Participantlong time winter commuter, I am the dork on the Jamis wearing a yellow helmet and the mount Vernon trail patrol vest. I commute from Maryland over the Woodrow Wilson bridge to mount Vernon trail to Four mile run trail then up the hill to Mark Center. I try to ride both to and from work but on icy mornings my husband drops me off and I ride my bike home. Hope to be able to meet up at some events, I generally will meet you places as I do not like to ride fast, I like to look around and enjoy the ride. But I do love Happy Hours, donuts, eating. etc. I ride so that I can eat. Mostly eat Vegan but will occasionally let cheese slide if I cannot avoid it. Try to eat healthy but ride so I don’t have to be crazy about it. Love Fireball.

ParticipantI am not sure all of those strava max speeds are correct. I know my trike slows me down at 20 mph yet if you look on my strava rides they have my speeds way up there on my downhills, there is no way I went over 30 mph on my trike I would have had a heart attack, I am very fearful of downhill. and on the MVT I would be bounced off the trike if I went to fast. when I saw the above post I looked at my strava rides and some of those speeds are funny. I do have Beauregard to ride down on the way home and get some good speed on it, but it isn’t because of the e assist. It is all gravity same with going down national harbor in the mornings. It is the uphill where I get my advantage, I can go up national harbor hill at 13 mph without e assist it was more like 4 mph.

ParticipantI love my trike with the e-assist, I cannot ride my upright because of my shoulder and my 15 mile commute each way was too much without the e-assist. I do not speed and try to always stay below 15 mph. With my health issues I am forever grateful I have this option I cannot imagine what I would do if they ever said e-bikes were not allowed on the trail. I try often to keep the e-assist at the minimum level and use my leg power but it is wicked nice to know that when I am having a bad day with a lot of pain I can have the e-assist help me. There are morning when I know without e-assist I wouldn’t have been able to ride in but with it I am brave enough to start out even on a bad morning and most morning once I get started I am thrilled that I got on the trike. Some mornings not so much but always it is better than a car.

ParticipantI am doing the 29 mile route on my trike.

ParticipantIt was COLD this morning, I know I am a wimp, but I was cold, I also discovered that nice mesh seat on my trike is nice in the summer but makes for a cold rear end in the colder temperatures. So today I will be on the search for a seat cover. Yes I had my hood on and my gloves and tights under my pants but … I didn’t have my face covered. Thought about it though. Freezing saddles here I come…..LIZ W.

ParticipantI have a surly troll. I am not sure what size it is, I am 5 foot 4 and it fits me. I would have to look to check the size, but you are free to try it out.

ParticipantI will be going down tonight heading home from Mark center. I am so looking forward to it. I love Friday ride homes because there is almost always a stop in Old town for a drink.

Participanti am over being sick and went out for a short ride today, felt great. Lets see how many miles I can log this week. Looks like it is going to be a cold one.

ParticipantHello Team, LIZ W here (ejwillis62) I have had a cold but plan on getting on my bike this weekend to officially start my new year. I hope to help the team and to drink a lot of beer and such stuff while we are all riding and freezing this winter. Not a fan of the cold but love my bike so we do what we have to do. Can’t wait to meet all of you. I recognize some of the names. Look for me out riding. Most times I have a Mount Vernon Trail Patrol vest on. Blue helmet

ParticipantQuestion for the group I am looking to buy a tandem for the husband and myself. We want it to be light enough and sturdy enough to use for long rides, like RAGBRAI (ride across IOWA) any suggestions on brand? or which one would be good.
