It’s been heavy traffic all week, carry over from B2WD and nice weather? Your shot at N Ft Myer Dr (Lynn is the next light) isn’t all that unusual between 7:30 and 8:00 am. Love the shot of the rider running the light. Did she pass around the stopped traffic or hook a left from a traffic lane/N Ft Myer sidewalk?
Oops. You’re right. I miss labeled the death zone.
She was sort of close to the front of the line when she crossed. I think she had to wiggle past 2 people before she could run the light.

ParticipantThat Dirt guy is nothing but trouble.
Honestly, the best thing I can suggest is to try some on. Conte’s stocks Campy, Assless (aka Assos), Sugoi, Castelli, Giordanai and a few more. Bonzai has 2XU. The Bike Lane has Pearl Izumi and Sugoi and I think Garneau.
What works for me: Any Giordana except for Silverline. Castelli fits well, but I’ve had issues with durability. 2XU are VERY comfortable for me. Hincapie makes some great shorts, but I don’t know who sells them locally. If I find anyone, I’ll let you know. Assos are amazing, but WOW are they expensive… not that any of the others I’ve mentioned are cheap.
What doesn’t work for me: Pearl, Sugoi and Garneau do not work well.
As for speaking Italian: Nalini makes some wonderful shorts. Only one or two shops in the US stock them. All of those are on the left coast. I tried one pair ordering them from eBay, loved the way they fit, then had Conte’s special order a bunch for me.
The polite way for guys to try on shorts in a bike shop: buy a pair of those fancy-pants, under armor underwear. It is super thin so you get that “nothing comes between me and my Calvins” feel while having something come between you and your Calvins.
Is that more helpful?

PS: Happy Birthday.

Will your imaginary friend be paying?
Probably not, but I LOVE the look on the servers face when you tell him/her that my imaginary friend is buying. I’ll stop thinking that’s funny next decade… maybe.
Dirt
ParticipantI’m in. I’ll bring my imaginary friend.
Dirt
ParticipantI like the crunchy ones.

ParticipantI like the idea of completely random flingings. It adds a bit of suspense to the ride. If someone were actually at the controls, I would know that I had a 100% chance of getting flinged every day. (My bad English and made-up words are intentional. It cuts down on being taken more seriouslier.)
Dirt
ParticipantI can’t wait to see what’s next. I am so hoping that they install a catapult that randomly flings trail users into the Potomac.
(Yes. I am being a sarcastic jerk and that isn’t at all helpful. The image in my mind of such a thing was just way too vivid for me to NOT comment.)
I love and respect all mankind.

ParticipantWe should take over the patio at Jay’s Saloon. That would make me happy for an hour.
Great idea, Mark.
Good idea with the shoes, Ann. I don’t think Spartacus would want to be seen with you while you’re wearing heels. THE HORROR!!!
God awful bike shoes rule!!!!

ParticipantAs Daffy Duck would say, “We’ve got a new thpeed bump.”

ParticipantPotomac Pedalers has an extensive catalog of ride starts. They just updated their web site to make it available to members only for the really good parts. It is a great opportunity to join PP.

Their collection of cue sheets are AMAZING!!!!
As for my favorite launching points, I tend to use Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, Germantown Soccerplex, Gainsville Elementary School, etc.

A few years ago, there were a series of chalk messages and elaborate art on the W&OD every quarter mile or so through Falls Church. They concluded with a big “Happy Birthday” message to someone. It happened to be my birthday, too, so I considered myself to be a joint recipient of the well wishes.

That sounds like the person/people who inspired this thread. The last few things I’ve posted have been done with spray paint and will require a lot of work to remove.
Oddly enough, the most recent CHALK graffiti that I saw in Falls Church was “cleaned up” by painting over it. I thought that was a bit odd.
Happy Monday.
