Participant15 seconds after taking this photo, three cyclists cut to the front of the line and ran the light. One guy laughed when I snarked my amazement at his level of entitlement. I love sarcasm.

ParticipantI worked on a road crew for a few years. It isn’t much fun. It can set up though.

ParticipantRush hour traffic is definitely killing me.
Today was awful.

Joe, how did you make out with the shorts?
This time of year I can’t imagine wearing baggies. It is hot enough in regular roadie shorts.

ParticipantI’ve found the Continental Gatorskin tires very resistant to flats. They ride nicely too. I think they also make them in wider widths that will fit on a hybrid-type bike.

I’m now more worried about being rear-ended by a bike there.
I’ve heard a few people panic stopping behind me at the light at Scott Street.

ParticipantTotally agree, Ann. Thanks for keeping it in perspective.

I saw them there around 5:30. It sounded like most of the survey spots were west of this intersection. The NVRPA staff didn’t seem to know about any of the Falls Church plans for W&OD realignment.
The people I saw doing the work were from a company that conducts such surveys. No-one at the intersection was actually from the park authority. That might account for their lack of specific project knowledge.

ParticipantInteresting day today. I enjoyed it.

ParticipantI like the term “unique visitor”.
But seriously… Thanks y’all for making a great forum!!!!

ParticipantI stop at the red lights. I come very close to stopping at the stop signs. If there are obviously no cars or cross traffic, I’ll roll through. I come close to getting rear-ended almost every day on the Custis trail when I stop at signs and red lights.

They ought to set up shop at Custis & N. Lynn Street. Man, will they get an earful.
It seemed like what they were doing is kind of an ongoing process. In addition to the questionnaires, they had someone collecting data on the number of trail users going through the intersections.

ParticipantPerfect photo, SMS. I go out of my way to visit with this little fuzzbutt.

ParticipantIt’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days. I honestly don’t think the Schlecks have started to race yet. I think I finally understand their strategy and it is risky, but quite possibly brilliant. I guess we’ll find out in Paris.

I must have come by just after that. When I came by the ambulance was still there, but the guy was sitting by himself on the curb holding his head. Looked OK.
Must have been a different guy. The cyclist was strapped to a back board to immobilize him and loaded in the ambulance.
