ParticipantTomorrow is Thursday…. and that is the day for Suburban Outreach!!!
I’ll be working in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria from 4-6:30pm. Del Ray has a lot of really cool things going on. Monroe Street is in line for getting the “Complete Streets” treatment… meaning it is being redesigned to work well for bikes, pedestrians and cars. It will become an accessible, east-west connector between Potomac Avenue and Commonwealth, the two north-south bike routes through Del Ray.
My plan is to stop for coffee and a snack at a local spot in Del Ray, visit the Velocity Bike Coop and talk to them for a few, then I’ll start talking with cyclists at the intersection of Mt Vernon and E Custis Avenue across from Velocity Bicycle Coop.
If you’d like to join me, please let me know. I’ll share my phone number with you and we can coordinate.
It should be a fun afternoon.
Thanks!
Pete

She gets the benefit of the doubt with me.
Thanks to y’all for coming out. I had 9 people stop by to talk. Your support is much appreciated. I’ll post up opportunities when I set up events. It would be nice to have y’all involved a little when I’m in your area.
Have a good weekend.

ParticipantIf you’re curious about what outreach looks like, stop by and talk to us this afternoon. Nelle and I will be at the intersection of the W&OD and Columbia Pike from about 4-6pm, Friday, 7/18.
Talking Points are:
- 9th Street Bike Blvd is a great connector along Colubia Pike
- Bike Park in the works in the powerline easement off of Columbia Pike
- Arlington Mill Community Center is open and has a new CaBi station!
We’ll have some 2014 Bike Arlington maps as well as some other stuff to hand out if people are interested.
Stop by and chat! It’ll be good to see you.

It’s great that NBC is doing this but they chose one of the worst places to bike to for this gathering. I mean seriously. Java Shack would have made more sense.
From an advocacy point of view, it is a great place for this. It gives a great opportunity to talk about a corridor that isn’t very easy to travel.
Hope to see y’all out there.

ParticipantI’m a dining nightmare. I eat 6 or 7 meals per day. Usually one of those meals is what a human would recognize as a meal. Breakfast usually comes at 4:30, 6 and 9:30am. Lunch is at 11am and 2pm. Dinner is at 5 and 7:30. I try to stop eating at that point. If I’m working late, last dinner will be at 9:30.

ParticipantThere shouldn’t be spacers between your chainrings. Triple chainring cranks haven’t used spacers since the early 1990s and they were only used for the smallest chainring. Is it possible you’re using a 9 speed chain with an 8 speed system? That might account for this. Have you made changes in the rings/chain lately? Are the chainrings worn or of different vintage?
It is difficult to diagnose something like this without actually seeing the bike. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.
