Thanks folks. I had Dr. Avery at Commonwealth take a look at it today. It’s broken into three pieces but the location and spacing appear to be within the range where they like to see if it will knit itself together first. So, sling, pain meds and come back in 3 weeks for a follow-up.

sorry about your accident, hope you heal up soon. i was hit by a car last year and broke my clavicle too, 3 pieces like yours. got back on bike in about 6 weeks but it took over 6 months for the pieces to grow back together. i didn’t have any pain or restrictions after the first 6 weeks, it just took a long time to heal

Someone propose a location and some dates for this Fixie-stravaganza and let’s make it a forum happy hour/meetup!
41st Street
edit: i have a few 55cm – 56cm FG bikes with eggbeaters / look pedals if anyone wants to try

Mind you, I think fixies are hella cool looking and I want to try riding one as soon as possible, I just don’t think me and my jello legs could commute on one. Unless Arlington Ridge would like to obligingly sink into the earth. Oo, if it did that I could commute on that sugar skulls Electra Cruiser with the tassels on the handlebars that I secretly covet!
Secretly.
I used to think I couldn’t commute fixed either, I was wrong. I think that’s a great goal to set for yourself.

Custis sisters? Is that the double dip?
yep, just east of glebe road. double dip heading east, double hill heading west.

ParticipantI didn’t ride there, snuck out of work and threw my bike in the trunk of my friend’s car. It was a good ride back on a beautiful evening. I’ve seen people chain their bikes to trees at trail entrances.
I wouldn’t want to have the 41 st hill as part of my commute. I’ll stick with the two sisters on the Custis trail at Glebe Rd.

A friend had a near mishap when heading west on the W&OD. Upon arriving at the west end of the trail in Purcellville, he was so excited to see us waiting at the bike shop that he rolled right over the elevated seal in the pavement at the end of the trail without seeing it. He did manage to recover without dropping the bike, but it was close…

Also, I believe that part of whites ferry road may be private property, so I doubt you’d get much traction trying to increase the safety there.

My friend did the exact same thing except she wasn’t so lucky, she went down.

Another old photo from my archives, I’m running out and need to ride more and take more photos. (Looking for color-coordinated backgrounds)
