… is looking like it will involve wet feet. Everything else is dry but the wool socks, shoes and shoe covers. Sigh.
I use plastic grocery bags between the shoe and show covers, feet will stay dry for a few hours

ParticipantSide streets in FFX were dicey, riding car tracks in packed snow sucks. The main roads like Rte 123 were clear and just wet, most of the shoulder was clear. The WOD west of East Falls Church was about 1″-2″ fresh snow, loved that part. Trails from EFC to Rosslyn were clear and just wet, Key Bridge was patches of packed snow / ice.

Wait wait, did they pave some of the gravel grinder roads out there??
Old Wheatland and Old Waterford almost seem paved now. Furnace Mountain Rd was still gravel two weeks ago. Not sure about Piggot Bottom Road.

That looks like a perfect route to ride out to ride … And you’ll even have gears and a road bike! Or is it that you are riding your MTB 55 miles *and* doing Snotcycle? That would be a different story.
A few of those roads are gravel, but they’re the “new” type of gravel that pretty much seem paved. So disappointed the last time I was out there.

ParticipantAll kidding aside, finding the right FG gear ratio is a matter of personal preference and the type of rides you plan to go fixed. I have two scenarios:
– A gear to climb the toughest hill (41st St)
– A gear to keep up on medium pace group ridesI’d suggest you figure out a few preferred gear ratios, then build a bike for each.
I prefer 165 – 170 mm cranks (spin to win).dcv
ParticipantIf only there was some way to easily change gear ratios to accommodate varying road conditions…

Where are the rides announced/posted? I don’t see them on the thread or Starva discussion. Henry
Hey Henry, I posted here (#33 on this thread) and also sent invites via Strava. You should have got a notification on Strava – sorry if you missed it. I’ll send reminders next time.
