ParticipantIf the drivers can’t avoid hitting this warning sign, do you really think they’ll stop for pedestrians?

It would have been even more appropriate if the handlebars were twisted around

i was dumb enough to try to get in some extra miles before work in Rock Creek Park. noooooope. not without studs! all NPS routes are just sheets of ice. all the treated car routes were fine tho, ended up cutting across to 14th and then south to work. beautiful fog! nice and warm compared to the last two weeks.
I’m glad I decided to avoid my usual route through RCP today and take 14th Street instead.

If the ship is moving, it wouldn’t be a simple loop.

No laps around the deck on a folding bike that you happen to pack in your bag?
The Strava track on that will look pretty peculiar

ParticipantAnd so we don’t just have Arlington segments, let’s add some for DC. The first one would be the proposed church destroying 6th Street bike lane.

Done. Good strong clear single “Ding!” Cheap, works well, does not rust into a lump, plenty of mounting options and adjustable lever angles. Other than that it SuckS. :p
The original and My fav.
A longer threaded bolt will make the original fit on modern H bars. My bell is mounted to a crabon bar right next to the brifter. Dinger on one side while on the horns the other when in the drops.
I used to like Incredibells, but I went through too many of them as the striker would eventually break off. I do like my Spurcycle, although it’s pricey enough that I call it a Splurgecycle.

Meridian Pint (11th and Park) is my favorite bar/restaurant in the whole city.
If you head north a bit on 14th, left on Upshur, then down the gigantic hill you’re basically on Beach Drive if you’re looking to go for a weekend ride.
I live at Monroe and New Hampshire, and have lived in the neighborhood since 2007, so if you have specific questions about the area feel free to PM me.
Currently, you can’t get to Beach Drive via Upshur. This phase of the road construction has closed Blagden Avenue between Mathewson Drive and Beach Drive

ParticipantMe: Riding the 14th Street bike lane in front of DCUSA in Columbia Heights
You: Straddling the bike lane and an open parking spotIt’s not bad enough that you couldn’t manage to move into the empty spot. You had to make it even worse by flinging open your door while all your attention was on your phone call. It’s only because I was slowly squeezing between your car and the traffic jam on 14th Street that I avoided getting doored. Your dumb grin as I pointed out that your terrible parking was just icing on the cake.

It looks like the bike-ometer in Rosslyn, which shows daily numbers up top, monthly numbers below and the annual number as a bar rising from the bottom. That’s what the 500,000 is showing – the annual number.
I was noting that there are six LED numbers for the daily rider count. We’ll need a few more lanes in the PBL for that.

ParticipantThat is an ambitious goal of six figure daily riders

ParticipantThe course for the this year’s ride has been released. They will have to rename it the 49 States ride, since it doesn’t actually go on Oregon Avenue, but only crosses it. I was wondering what they planned to do with the Bingham Drive closure in Rock Creek Park. The route goes along the bike path along Bingham and Oregon, which could be a problem with a lot of cyclists. I’m surprised they didn’t route it via Wise Road instead.

ParticipantThe Great Allegheny Passage trail out of Cumberland is paved for the first several miles before turning into a crushed limestone surface. It also parallels a working tourist railway between Cumberland and Frostburg, with a steam train operating once or twice a day.
