ParticipantMe: Traveling south on the 15th Street bike lane
You: A cyclist
You first drew my attention when you rolled onto the hood of a car that was making a right turn from K Street onto 15th Street. You bounced up very quickly and didn’t curse the driver out, since you were at fault as your made a sweeping left turn from K Street onto 15th. Then down at the Pennsylvania Avenue plaza in front of the White House, you ran into a cyclist going the other way, knocking both of you to the ground. You seem to have a depth-perception problem…

Not a direct answer to your question, but … I know this intersection, but haven’t really ridden it the way you describe. I’m usually on Mount Vernon itself going in either direction. Looking at the Google Maps picture:
And how surprising is it that the Google Street View shows a car making a right turn on red?

Zephyr decided to blow some trees down at College Park Airport, which hung into and over the Northeast Branch trail. My Silky Pocketboy and I were having none of it though.
This saw isn’t as intimidating as a machete, but it worked much faster in this instance.
I thought you were warning us that Charlie Brown’s kite-eating tree has now acquired a taste for bikes.

ParticipantI normally take Beach Drive on my way to work in Silver Spring, but with upper Beach Drive closed with the construction, I go through the Barnaby Woods neighborhood, on Western and Utah. Utah is a very quiet road, wide but with little traffic. My preferred route is Utah to 27th, then a short hop on Military (you can ride the sidewalk on this stretch) to Glover Road. Take this down to the start of the trail at Broad Branch. I only see a handful of cars on Glover each day.

ParticipantAt our first Team Too Six-y gathering, the Corner Bakery’s Blueberry Hand Pie was a delicious, fruit-filled way to refuel.

ParticipantThe People list seems to reset early. When I refreshed it at 10:45 pm, everyone who had ridden every day was showing as yellow.

Here is the first compendium of Pointless Prizes. It will be updated with prizes, links, and hashtags as the list grows. Keep ’em coming!
Could you add these in your initial post in this thread? This would make it easier to find the list.

I’ve stuck my head in that river more times than I can count, and I’m still normal. Aren’t I?
Well, you do play the accordion…

I rode a CaBi Plus for the first time today, and I actually didn’t like it very much. The Plusses are heavier and more unwieldy than the regular CaBis, which are already tanks. And the e-assist kicked in and cut out unpredictably, which made for a jerky ride. Possibly it was a problem with that particular bike, or possibly I would have gotten more used to the e-assist over a longer ride. But that’s now the third model of e-bike that I’ve tried, and I haven’t liked any of them. Maybe I’m just not meant to ride e-bikes.
I haven’t experience that jerkiness on the CaBi Plus I’ve ridden. I ridden one here and the same model out in San Francisco a few times. The assist was predictable as you start pedaling, but for a first-time rider, getting used to that may take a little time.

We all know that Freezing Saddles always ends on my birthday and that the purpose of the whole event is to have a 2.5 month celebration of my birth.
Except when it’s not. In 2020, spring starts on March 19 at 11:49 P.M. EDT

ParticipantThe Rock Creek Park trail was clear (except for standing water in the usual places), but the bridges at Peirce Mill and Porter Street were icy.
