Just wanted to point out your gross oversight, here. You obviously don’t know much about calendars.

Any list of things I don’t know much about would be pretty long. :)

Everybody should be aware that we need to say what needs to be said regarding e-bikes by 5 Nov 2017 (shift off daylight savings time), at which time we will shift to the regularly scheduled debate about bike lights on the trails that are too bright/annoyingly flashy/poorly aimed/not used.

    Thank you.

This is a cycling forum, so all units must be metric. Please update your counts accordingly.

I think all of this would be solved if we simply limited the definition of a bicycle to something with a horizontal top tube.

And shifters on the down tube, as God intended.

This whole thread could be resolved if …. I knew the difference between under the bell curve and within 1 standard deviation of the mean.

    31.8%. You’re welcome.

I’m for banning both fast people and slow people on the trails. You can get under the bell curve or you can get out!

Striking before BentBike33 has a chance, the fast people and slow people are still under the bell curve – just further out under the tails.

They didn’t have to stay on roads and probably did it at an altitude that allowed them some routing flexibility.

There were a few of us out there. The rain was at least warm.

Certainly more enjoyable than these folks on the GWMP

Significant drop in bike traffic this morning, but still a decent number of riders. Car traffic was curiously light as well.

That’s logical, the motorists might get rained on as they get in their cars. Can’t have that!

Arlington DES made some changes to northbound Eads at 23d near Crystal City. They took a few parking spaces by the 7-11 to create a dedicated turn lane. There are some flex posts to help with motorist training. Cyclists will now be near the flexposts to the left of the right-turning motorists.

Motorists are likely to be a bit confused. Keep your head on a swivel and as Marko Ramius suggests, “Give them a wide berth”

I observed a couple of motorists succumbing to confusion and turning right from the center lane.

I think the fire/EMS responders don’t really know the mile markers very well. When I was waiting for response on a crash (not mine) on MVT, I went to the shoulder of the GWMP with my headlight set on strobe. It gave the responders a clear point of aim from a third of a mile out. Kind of like bringing a chopper in – you have to get their attention.

I got the same response. I’ll speak with my Delegate (Mark Levine) this weekend to follow up on my email to him.

Helmets are useless. Mine totally did not prevent a ginormous bug from impacting my forehead this morning.

Well, the bug wasn’t wearing a helmet and probably suffered an injury as a result. You were and were uninjured. QED
