ParticipantYou are good on the leaderboard. We have a replacement…I think. I’ve been around the wheel (so to speak) on this issue with chuxtr-who is doing an amazing job, so please recognize it if you run into him-several times in the last 48 hours. I’m working to get the replacement rider up to speed…and then will need to contact Andrew to get that person authorized. Be patient as we work through this. In the meantime #getoutside and #rideyourbike!

ParticipantI realized that after typing that message, and reach out directly to @chuxtr, because the window was closing and messages to the rider and Andrew have been unanswered. We are not out of the woods yet, though. When the new rider requests an add to their Team 6 Strava club, Andrew will still need to do the authorization. We’ll get there.

ParticipantRight now, we have all 8 members of our team in the Strava Club that drives our scoreboard, but the scoreboard is showing only 7. I am not sure who is not getting credit (since some of us use different handles here than our Strava username). We should try to get it figured out so that 8th person’s effort is being credited to our team total.

Okay TEN then.
16 is a lot less sleazy than 10…and if you live a place that doesn’t have moon rocks, but does use the metric system, 16.1 (ish) is the magical number! And 16 is more than 10, amirite?

ParticipantI’m a little too Type A (according to my kids), but it’s probably why I’m good at playing Army…anyhow, I like to win, or at least give it a serious college try.
If you like those things, too, here’s some helpful advice, since we are a team and the collective effort is the key.
1) If we each ride everyday (or miss as few as possible), that goes a long way to team points.
2) With this year’s change to the rules, a sleaze is still vital, but since the scoring provides a decreasing benefit over the first 10 miles (with mile 10 and all beyond begin worth a single point), the best “sleaze” distance (total in a day) would be 9 miles. If we each crank the pedals everyday (or go for as many as possible), the riders like myself and Andrew will pack the points in, if you just get the team daily “participation” points.

ParticipantHow about “Team 6oz of Sealant”…seems to be the right amount between two 700×33 tires!
And, yes, I also make a huge mess every time I mess around with my tires…

ParticipantHi, I’m Andy…Dachs6 here (obviously), and der Bierpuncheur // HPAF on the Strava. This is my 4th BAFS. I tend to crank a lot of miles, split between pavement and gravel. I live in Stuttgart Germany, but can be found riding my bicycle in interesting places when I go TDY (for instance, I am in Limburg, NLD this week). I will be in the DC area next week for only a couple fo days, so CABI is my only option, I will be there 2-8 Feb as well, working, so evenings or really early mornings are my only option for a HH or link up if any of you have it in mind.
A couple of rando (unsolicited, I know) pieces of advice for the team…riding everyday is HUGELY important for team points. My team won last year with only 3 or 4 of us maxing out the team points, but because all but one rider rode everyday, we had more total team points than any other team, not by a lot, but by enough. Also, I calculated that with the new scoring system, while sleazing gets 10 points for a good day, it also gets 20 points (because of the mileage calculation). I am assuming putting in 10 miles (16km for those on metrics, like this guy) a day per rider will maximize us pretty well.
Also, I sponsor the #DirtyBiker prize, because I ride so much gravel, but I will not compete, because it simply isn’t fair, since I ride on Gravel 5-6 days a week. But, I encourage it, because it’s fun and it makes you a better pavement rider! Good luck, all, and I hope I can cross paths with all (or some) of you.
