ParticipantIs it impolite to notice that you used the very same MUP?

Elite riders don’t ride MUPs.

ParticipantMy commute to work is very short indeed, as I work from home. Trying to bicycle from my bedroom to my office has proved impractical. Nevertheless, most of my riding is on weekdays. Hence the fact that with far fewer miles or hours than you, I am second only to you in miles after sunset.
I have no issue with a “weekend warriors” contest; just pointing out that it may not catch all the noncommuters.

This contest originated in the commuters forum and is largely about encouraging people to ride to work. Despite that and to cancel my unfair advantage I propose a “weekend warrior” award for the individual with the most miles ridden on the weekends. There are many Freezing Saddles competitors for whom riding to work is not feasible.

ParticipantYep, I put mine down as my actual average at the time I registered. Handicap was 50 points a week (2 rides, total of 30 miles), which means that at the end of 11 weeks (tomorrow), I should have 550 points. I actually have 1,519 points, plus whatever I earn tomorrow. Apparently, this competition achieved its goal of encouraging more riding, at least in my case!
Final figures: 1,615 actual versus 557 handicap. Not too shabby!

ParticipantSo long as someone has it, all is good. The rest is just idle curiosity on my part, combined with a vague hope that it’s the one prize I might actually be in contention for.

I think we determined there were some privacy issues with this. RCannon has the handicap data but it’s not in the database that powers the FreezingSaddles.com site. I’m happy to do the data analysis part of this but you’ll have to discuss with RCannon whether we want to share the data or not.

ParticipantSo for that Liar, Liar Pants on Fire award, do we have a chart showing people’s original handicaps? I’m thinking the others could be calculated from the existing charts, but that one would require more information.

ParticipantSigh! The roads aren’t even bad at this point, and there are still several more hours in which they could be plowed to allow people to get there. Clearly they have never heard of Rule 5 or Rule 9!

ParticipantOne member of Sloppy Seconds has now posted a ride!

ParticipantI suspect that everyone with perfect attendance up to now (all 14 of us) will manage at least a sleaze ride today.

ParticipantAre we still on for tonight?

ParticipantAlso not great for those of us doing the Clarendon Mardi Gras parade, which was already postponed once and is currently supposed to be combined with St. Patrick’s. If this keeps up, they can just save time by combining it with the Fourth of July as well!

ParticipantSloppy Seconds is preemptively claiming the prize for “Most Miles Ridden With a Broken Bone.” It’s just a pity that we didn’t stop to determine whether there was such a prize before two of our team members (Subby with a broken clavicle and acl with a broken finger) began competing for it!

ParticipantI managed my 31.42 miles of bicycling (actually, a total of 33.7 miles, according to Strava), but for some reason that pie didn’t magically appear for me!

ParticipantI swear I had a headwind in both directions for my breakfast run this morning. However, since my devious Top Secret spying has determined that Lentement considers me an “enemy agent,” I was not about to let the weather deter me from my usual bike ride (plus a little extra, just to be annoying).

ParticipantMy rides today:
Noon – Clear and warm
2:00 – Mostly still clear and warm, with a bit of a sprinkle at the very end of the ride.
6:00 – Raining, but not hard, and no scary nearby lightning.
9:00 – Windy and a bit cold. However, the headwind just made me expend some extra calories, as opposed to being strong enough to create worries of being knocked over. And heaven knows I’ve biked in much colder this winter.Overall assessment: My refusal to pay attention to weather forecasts is once again justified. I got in all the rides I planned, without a whole lot of difficulty.

ParticipantThanks for the warning! This will be important for almost anyone coming to the final BAFS Happy Hour by bicycle.

They did a nice job putting up warning cones before you arrived at the zig-zag detour. The closure looked permanent to me.
