ParticipantI’ll do the Total again with the idea of improving my time, but just not maybe in 2014. I’m likin’ either the DD or Pete’s Gravel 200. Who knows, maybe I’ll go really crazy and volunteer.

ParticipantI personally an very excited about this program, or the potential for it. Already, I would have 2 trips with at least 4 people each ready to go today if they would open up roll on service between DC<> Pittsburgh and DC <> Richmond. Odds are I would use a route between DC <> Roanoke and or Charlotte as well if it was available.

Is it bad form to try on stuff for sizing in a store with the intention of ordering online? I go to Freshbikes in Arlington to try things on a lot because they have decent selection but eventually feel guilty and start buying things there…
I try to buy all my stuff locally. Just ask Jan at Bikenetic, it seems like I always have something on special order there. But I also keep an eye on the deep discount stuff on line. If there’s something that I’ve been looking for that pops up, I will pull the trigger on that. but its far and away an impulse buy or serendipitous situation. 98% of the time, I’m going local. I also “cross source” my purchases. Breathable base layers, I will pick up at REI or costco, where they are not cycling specific but work great and are 1/2-1/3 the price of cycling specific gear, glove liners, and wool sox are other examples.

ParticipantLooks like I was the sole attendee of FMCClll this AM.

ParticipantThere’s a guy on my commute that has a Kona Dew, with a rohloff internal geared hub and salsa open bar handlebar. Its awesome, it looks like a cross between a big fat tire beach cruiser and a mountain bike.

Did you go out to FMCCIII and then to work in DC? If so, that a pretty impressive pre-work ride.
No I have -2- facilities I manage, -1- downtown and -1- in Reston.

ParticipantI managed to make it there for a cup. Guess that means you were the one who was talking to Hans when I showed up.

ParticipantCan I stop by Bike Arlington HQ to pick up spare blinkies etc to pass out on my travels?

ParticipantWe could have different events; distance (5 laps), timed ( how many laps in 25 mins), and team timed (4 riders each has to complete X laps, return bike to station, next team member can then rent his bike), maybe we could set up a trials course.
