Participant3/18/24 spelt
The Holodomor Memorial depicts wheat (spelt)This memorial is dedicated to the millions of people of Ukraine who perished in the man-made famine of 1932-1933 known as the Holodomor – death by starvation. Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, wanted to rapidly transform the country into an industrialized, Russian-led, communist world power. Part of the plan was to collectivize agriculture, meaning farmers had to surrender their crop to the state for redistribution among the entire population. The plan led to widespread starvation, which some scholars argue was intentional.

Since the sunrise was so beautiful, I thought I would share this sunrise haiku:
Born in full color
Brought out of the darkest night
A new day begins

Participant3/13/24 local
The phrase “all politics is local” was attributed to Speaker Tip O’Neill although he didn’t actually come up with itMarch 12, 2024 at 10:57 am in reply to: 2024 Photo Scavenger Hunt – Rules and Alternate Words #1133923ChristinaSwartz
Participant3/12/24 heave
As many riders know, tree roots along the MVT have proved challenging, due to the heaves they cause, resulting in teeth-rattling rides from Roslyn to Mount Vernon. However, thanks to the volunteer trail grinding team, many of these heaves have been flattened, resulting in much more pleasant rides for all. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Participant3/11/24 pesky
Especially this time of year, Canada geese enjoy congregating on the trail- they don’t like it when I ride through them- they also leave their giant piles of droppings on the trail, which must be dodged at all costs. They are definitely pesky (even if the chicks are cute)March 10, 2024 at 9:35 am in reply to: 2024 Photo Scavenger Hunt – Rules and Alternate Words #1133777ChristinaSwartz

I hope the students at this school can grasp the concepts their teachers are giving them, and become as wise as the owl (who is also a LFL)

This woman waiting for the bus looked a bit like a hunchback with her backpack. No doubt she’s going to spend the rest of her day hunched over a keyboard
