ParticipantBikeArlington twitter reporting that detour will begin on Nov 7, though they don’t link to or cite anything.

ParticipantI was biking in the bit of the path between the end of the bridge and the two crossings to get to Washington Blvd. It isn’t a very long stretch and I kept the blinker on because the second crossing terrifies me. Normally I keep it on medium or low steady light.

ParticipantDear other biker,
I was headed south bound on the trail on the south side of Memorial Bridge, just inside Virginia. I had my strobe on for fear of death (still new to this night biking thing) and I didn’t see you approaching. Sorry about the obnoxiously bright strobe
.

ParticipantYeah the reason I linked Rep Beyer is because I figured as an Arlington-centric forum, most users were probably in Virginia 8. I included a link in the original comment (at least tried to, haven’t quite figured out the forum) so that people could check whether they were in Virginia 8.
And also, the reason to contact him would be that I figure he’d probably be more responsive than NPS, given that he’s a freshman member of the House and NPS seems to not check their email/twitter/facebook.

ParticipantHey everyone, this is the contact info for Rep Beyer (https://beyer.house.gov/forms/writeyourrep) of Virginia District 8 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia%27s_8th_congressional_district).

ParticipantHmm, well this is concerning. I’ve just emailed NPS about this – I’ll update this thread if I hear back!

ParticipantIs this new? I biked across it on Monday and it seemed that everything was still open.

ParticipantThanks for all the advice everyone! I’ve definitely got a couple routes to try out over the next few weeks. Thanks again!

ParticipantDo you know of any way to take MVT on to Memorial Bridge? I have to get up to Dupont Circle, so going south there doesn’t make too much sense.

Boundary Channel Drive has fewer crossings than the Washington Blvd. trail. and is not as far out of the way as the Mt. Vernon Trail
MAPWhere do you go under 395? You can also get to Boundary Channel on the Pentagon side via the parking lots and Connector Road, which might be shorter than via Long Bridge Park. Something more like this (MAP).
I think that first route makes more sense. The current route that I’ve been taking is this (https://www.google.com/maps/dir/38.8657823,-77.0640011/38.9012859,-77.057381/@38.8848847,-77.0730383,14.25z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e1″). Putting in my actual beginning and end, your first suggestion doesn’t take any extra time. I’ll try this out as soon as I can. Thanks!!
