ParticipantBrrrrrr! I don’t know if I’m still recovering from Sunday/yesterday’s nausea, Saturday’s 50 States ride, or if it was just the cold, but damn was today slow. My quads just would not loosen up at all.
On the upside, I finally got to *really* use the jacket I’d bought on sale a while ago.
this was cool looking

I guess it’s partly my fault you didn’t know where the ride really ended. You using the GPS and me following the cue sheet worked great as far as following the route. Your GPS and my cue sheet guided us to the official finish, but page eight of the cue sheet told of the T-shirts and where they were. I never turned the last page until maybe the next day. Sorry!
it’s cool, I was really feeling pretty sick at that point LOL not sure I could’ve done much more than get to the Metro and get home. A few hours in the cool A/C and I was feeling great. Of course, Sunday morning my son and I went out for breakfast and I think I got sick off that
I still feel great about finishing the ride!

ParticipantNot to inject any reality or anything foolish like that, but all the stop signs in the world aren’t going to save your life if you decide to cross and expect that distracted driver to not kill you. Signs or not, I never assume I’m going to win the right of way from a driver that’s obvious to the world around them, and your chances of coming across one of those is pretty damn high these days.
I know you’re all discussing the legal statutes and wording and all that neat stuff, but I hope no one loses sight of how to not get smashed to pieces.

You HAVE to say that!
And yes, as pointed out, tomorrow is another day. I’m looking forward to it. Needed something good for lunch today to wipe out the remaining ickies from the gut, so Afghan Kabob place was on the menu. I powered through a plate of lamb kabobs and, though they didn’t have the gut cleansing effect I need, they were absolutely delicious and made me happy.

Thanks to Bluerider for organizing the informal meet and greet. It was nice to put a couple of faces with the profile name.
Yes! Agreed, and my apologies to Bluerider for neglecting to thank him! It was nice to meet you and your brother? Sorry, I’m bad with not only names, but just introductions in general
The one thing I forgot to add about the ride, although it’s my fault for not going to the after party.. riding in the park after the 50 states ride and seeing no one there, and no evidence that I’d even arrived at the final destination, kinda sucked. I didn’t think I’d finished super late, and know there were quite a few people behind me. Not having any sort of welcoming party, or person or inanimate sign was crushing. I went home in tears, not sure I actually finished the ride. I hope the greeting party at the Mellow Mushroom was awesome.

ParticipantI don’t recall seeing anything about T-shirts, sort of mad at myself for not going to the after party and getting one
I was, in my defense, completely wiped out. Awesome and challenging ride that I had not expected to finish.
edit: damn, my fault I didn’t read

Yup- even non-pedaling can be rough on the little dudes… (and Custis is rough on anyone towing that much kid & bike weight) my co-pilot conked out in the least comfortable position I’ve yet seen him pull off:

We work with Mt Borah (http://www.mtborah.com/) on the BikeArlington jerseys and have been quite pleased with their customer service. Ask for Kimberly and tell her that we sent you!
The Bike Arlington jerseys are awesome and I’ve had other good stuff from Mt Borah, so I second this recommendation

good to meet you too! I had wanted to stick with the group, but riding in those large packs and missing the light cycles was driving me crazy lol

Sorry about that. I know you were hurting but you kept catching people and dropping them…
man, you were awesome. I appreciate the push, I probably would not have finished the entire ride if you hadn’t been encouraging me along. The amazing chain work you did on that poor fellows bike was awesome. Mcgyver here also broke his derailleur, and fixed it with a STICK. Then rode the rest of the ride in one ring up front. 😎
