So… would any of you kidical mass regulars be up for a super-special bonus ride that would be filmed by real film people? It would have to be August 24 or 25.
I’m definitely interested if we can make it. 25th is probably better for us. What would the video be used for?

And… we need suggestions for the September 22 “Harvest Ride”. Thoughts?
I would suggest riding to a corn maze but I’m guessing there aren’t any nearby…

ParticipantI rode one of these at The Green Commuter in Takoma Park (they sell them) and didn’t really like it. Since it is a reverse trike, it handles pretty weirdly because you can’t lean the bike at all. I repeatedly got it up on two wheels and not always on purpose. The front part with the child seats can completely disconnect and become a stroller which is a big selling point for some people.

ParticipantHere is a photo I took just after we left while waiting at a light. I believe it took us three light cycles to get everyone through because the light was so fast.

ParticipantGreat ride today! My daughter (and I) had a blast both on the ride and at the sprayground. She couldn’t stop talking about the planes, boats, train, and “ocean” (aka the Potomac).
Also , Strava!

ParticipantLove this part of the Craigslist ad: “This bike has clip-less pedals. They will make you very fast when you use cycling shoes with them.”

ParticipantA coworker of mine had his bike stolen in Rosslyn and a week or two later a friend spotted it near Dupont Circle and texted him a photo. It happened to be two blocks from our office so we walked down there and put another U-lock on it. He called the police and eventually a fire truck even showed up so they could cut through the original U-lock. His bike had no serial number so the police confirmed it was his bike by zooming in photos on my buddy’s phone to match up scratches and dings.
The police officer left his business card with the broken U-lock in case the thief (or more likely the person who bought the bike from the thief) wanted to give him a call.

ParticipantAre you using one of their apps? My guess is it would be an issue with your GPS not getting a very accurate signal. Is the path on the map accurate or does it jump around a lot off of your path (through buildings, etc)?

Don’t know what happened, operator error? Here’s the Strava link and here’s the Garminconnect link. Or the Ridewithgps link.
Thanks! Much appreciated.

I did the ride to Annapolis twice last summer, riding to New Carrollton Metro and joining a group ride from there. The total 104 mile ride was logged as three segments.
I’m looking to do a ride to Annapolis soon and your route would definitely help out. However, your “group ride” link actually points to the W&OD + Arlington Loop ride. Do you have a link for the New Carrollton to Annapolis ride? Thanks!

Were y’all trying to drop Brandon!? Not very nice.
Ha, yeah you guys are so mean! Actually, I was in the pack the whole time but I had forgotten to start Strava until about a mile or so in. So, after I got home I manually edited the GPX and re-uploaded and it seems to have messed up the time.

ParticipantI’ll be there on Sunday with my daughter and probably my wife too (most likely on a CaBi!).

ParticipantI recently purchased a Bullitt cargo bike, mostly to use as a kid carrer. I’m in the middle of finishing the plywood cargo box and purchased some reflective glass bead powder (http://www.colesafety.com/Reflective-Glass-Beads_c17.htm) to mix in with the glossy urethane coat to hopefully make the whole cargo box reflective to light. I’ll be sure to post a photo of the final project, hopefully with a bright reflective box.

This is outrageous! It is time for the Government to import bats into the area to eat all of these damn bugs. What is this country coming to?!
Funny you say that because a fellow rider pointed out a bunch of bat houses along the trail. Just googled it and found an article about an abandoned railroad tunnel that has been preserved as-is for the bats instead of routing the WMRT through it.
To be fair, my fellow riders didn’t have as many mosquito issues as I did – I think I’m just tastier.
