I am planning to get in some full day long rides and am looking for cool places to go for extended distance rides. There are lots of roads and paths to chose from in this area and I am looking to expand my rides repertoire beyond the well known or basic.
Was thinking of WO&D west and back then down to Mount Vernon as simple basic mostly flat ride example. I have not ventured to the west end of the WO&D or up the MD side of the Potomac yet other than on the tow path with the kids. I like hills but am not a long time trained rider and wonder if I can do hills and extended miles at the same time to start. The arl loop is a 16 mph or so ride for me right now but 100 miles of custis like riding would likely bust my butt right now.
Got any good places to ride for a full day starting from the Falls church area that won’t fry a 50 something fred? Any semi local places worth driving to the start/stop for a day’s ride?

I’m looking to do a ride to Annapolis soon and your route would definitely help out. However, your “group ride” link actually points to the W&OD + Arlington Loop ride. Do you have a link for the New Carrollton to Annapolis ride? Thanks!

Don’t know what happened, operator error? Here’s the Strava link and here’s the Garminconnect link. Or the Ridewithgps link.
