ParticipantI rode today between 10am to 2pm on my roadie with slicks on the WOD from Virginia Lane to Fairfax Dr, where I took to the streets until the Marine Corps Park, 110 trail along Arlington cemetery, crossed Memorial Bridge, circled the Mall, laps at Hains Point, crossed 14th Street Bridge -> MVT -> 4MR -> WOD -> Virginia Lane. All clear, except for 2 ice patches beneath the 14th Street Bridge on MVT and the Rt 50 overpass on the WOD.

ParticipantI saw DCV and mini-DCV whizzing down Fairwood Lane toward West Street in Falls Church yesterday late morning while I was driving my car home in the opposite direction. It inspired me to get on my roadie and do a second ride later that afternoon. Thanks for the inspiration.

ParticipantI rode the WOD this morning at 9:30am on my hybrid with 26 x 1.5 treaded tires (but no knobbies), westerward, from Little Falls Street to Virginia Lane. Mostly hardpack snow, ice sheets, and intermittent asphalt (west of Shreve Road), suitable for confident riders with fat or studded tires who are willing to stay at slower speeds.

You must have taken those after I left, you late sleeper you.
Sorry to have missed you, Vern. I actually was up early with the full moon, but rode in painfully slow do to the ice and snow pack, as well as to stop and photo document the trail conditions for the benefit of the larger BAFS2015 community who use the Custis and WOD trails along my route. Maybe next time?

ParticipantShots from my morning commute from Falls Church (taking it to the Streets) to DC via Key Bridge (https://www.strava.com/activities/263764104).
Lots of white and black ice, turning to slush where the sun shines, so I went slow, only about half my normal average speed. Very Slippery. But rideable on my hybrid with 26 x 1.5 treaded tires (no knobbies or studs)Timber Lane, looking Westbound:

ParticipantI’ll take these tires, assuming that you have a pair? When and where for pickup? FCC1 or FCC2?
$15 – Continental GP 4000 700x25c. Never installed

ParticipantBy far the coolest bike that I’ve seen yet this Freezing Saddles season during my snowy ride around the hood this morning

Good ol’ Boomer…
I’m happy that you were the first cyclist through to enjoy the fruits of my labor. But after I almost bit the pavement the last time we met on this ice sheet, I knew I had to open a single track before the next storm hit. I also just rode it this morning with the fresh snowfall, and it worked:-) Stay upright, and ride on!

ParticipantI rode the WOD this morning from Virginia Lane, eastward to the Custis Trail Junction, and back (with a detour to the Bike Club). It was very rideable on my hybrid with 26 x 1.5 treaded tires (but not knobbies), but the rear wheel spun out on the mile 6 ice field. Saw many runners but only one other cyclist, headed East, between Brandymore Castle and the WOD/Custis junction. Hurry, go out and get your Sleaze ride in!

Too bad. This looked like fun.
We can try again for April’s full moon, but that will be post BAFS2015 season.

ParticipantTonight’s ride is cancelled due the snow storm and closing of the DC/Fed governments. Stay safe, and upright, but please Sleaze, too!

ParticipantSights from this afternoon’s laps around Hains Point. Lots of geese, fog, a few planes, but no Powerful Pete sighting!

ParticipantI rode home today from the Kennedy Center to Falls Church via TR bridge, Custis and WOD (mile
on my roadie with 700 x 25 slicks without problem nor portage. Still some rideable ice on the WOD at mile 6 shelter and mile 7.5 Popular Heights tennis courts. After dinner, I went back to mile 7.5 with a shovel and cleared a single track lane through the ice sheet before fresh snow falls and it becomes a buried minefield. As I was shoveling, DKel came through on his commute and was the first beneficiary of my labor[emoji4].
