Archer’s Bikes in Mesa!

When I was there last, staff was super friendly & helpful. Thanks! I *did* rent from them one day; they were very friendly and helpful. The bike was too small, but it worked for a few hours.
I also rented from Action Ridestop in Mesa, also very friendly and helpful. I had a small (for me) Cervelo, but it was really nice, even for several days.
Mesa and Tempe are great places to ride with good bicycle lanes and markings. The Salt River Trail was nice. The weather was sunny, no humidity, and temperatures in the upper 90s and even 100, and it was great!
Also, no problems going through airport security with a mini-pump and mini-tool.
Thanks.bikesnick
ParticipantHas anyone succesfully carried a mini pump and mini tool in their carry on luggage?
The TSA website says small tools and bicycle pumps are allowed in carry on luggage.
Thanks.bikesnick
ParticipantThere will be a new pedestrian/bicycle bridge over 495 at Tysons.
It is not opened yet, but there is progress on the (closed) trail. It is expected to be finished this fall according to a FFXNow post.

National study offers new bike count models: Combining traditional counters and emerging GPS data
Date: July 15, 2022
Source: Portland State University
Summary:
To ensure bicyclists’ needs are considered when improving a transportation system, planners and engineers need to know how many people are biking, and where. Traditional bike counters provide data for limited sections of the bike network, often these counters are installed at important locations like trails or bridges. While limited in location, they count everyone who bikes through. Meanwhile, GPS & mobile data cover the entire transportation network, but that data only represents those travelers who are using smartphones or GPS. Combining the traditional location-based data sources with this new, crowdsourced data offer better accuracy than any could provide alone.https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/07/220715085010.htm

Saw at LIDL grocery store in Fairfax two items of interest to cyclists:
1 – Repair stand for $40, seems of reasonable quality. It looks like this and has a tool tray(Black/Blue):

…
I have a similar one, purchased at Aldi ($29), after seeing a recommendation by someone on the forum. It works great for normal maintenance.

Come on folks, can anyone really doubt that the Mushroom House is the coolest house in Bethesda?Indeed. When we cycled to see this house, someone outside invited us in for a quick tour.
