Looks like DC Bike Party had a ride last Friday. I don’t see one on their Facebook page for the 30th
If they do, our ride shouldn’t intersect with theirs.

More details for this Friday’s Midnight Saddles ride:

    Date: Friday, July 30, 2021
Time: 10:30 gather, 10:45 wheels up
Location: Washington Monument (yes, up next to the monument itself)
Destination: Surfside taco truck (Dupont Circle)
    Route: (17.6 miles) https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/4533885292

What to Bring: Lights, helmet, money, bike, self. Costume for you and/or your bike optional.

In the case of really bad weather, the ride will be postponed. Light rain on a warm summer night we will ride through. A thunderstorm at 6pm or 8pm will not cancel the ride; in fact, by 10:30 it will likely be really nice out again. Ride on!

This route takes us on 4 river crossings, and we’ll get a close-up, night-time look at the new S. Capitol St. bridge.
We’re likely to see some post-baseball-game activity, although the game will probably have ended about 45 minutes before we go by.

I have heard about, but have never visited, the Surfside taco truck at Dupont Circle. It may very well be busy when we arrive. But that’s okay. We’ll grab some tacos, sit in the Circle, and reminisce about the ride.

Midnight Saddles rides are social rides, ridden at a moderate pace in a group. We stay in the group; no dropping. We make occasional stops for photos or to enjoy something we see along the way. The late-night eatery is part of the experience, and we recommend everyone stay and enjoy.
It will be deep night when we finish. If anyone feels uncomfortable going home alone, we will make sure you have a riding partner.

Feel free to RSVP on this thread. However, it is not necessary; you may show up at the start unannounced.

Midnight saddles rides are open to all who are fully vaccinated for COVID. If you are not yet fully vaccinated, there will be future rides, and you are welcome to join us then.

FYI – there are planned MBT closures between M and Q NE between 11pm and 7am this week and next, which would impact the tail end of the route.

Yeah this is Critical Mass, 4th Fridays. They are just getting it going again after a long break so it probably won’t be that big. Also I was just mentioning it for the person who asked what to do between Jazz in the Garden and Midnight Saddles :-)

Midnight Saddles is back!! First ride of 2022

For all of us who are staying in town this Memorial Day weekend, let’s do some late-night riding and noshing.

As usual, we will gather at the Washington Monument at 10:30pm; roll at 10:45.

Route still being determined, but the destination will be Capo Deli near Howard U. We will take a roundabout route.

    Date: Saturday, May 28
Time: Gather 10:30; wheels up 10:45
Location: Washington Monument (yes, at the Monument – up on the apron)
Route: Up Rock Creek and Beach Drive – across DC to Ft. Totten to check out the extension of the MTB – then to the deli. 16-17 miles.
Final stop: Capo Deli – 715 Florida Ave. NW
    Reason: Why not?

Midnight Saddles rides are social rides. We ride as a group at a moderate pace and end at a late-night establishment. The ride is typically under 20 miles and sometimes we check out points of interest. Then we share food, drink and company.
Not recommended for those with early Sunday morning responsibilities, but if you can sleep in a bit, then join us!

Midnight Saddles rides are open to all who have been vaccinated. If you are not yet fully vaccinated, please join us on a future ride.
