What tires are on that thing? Yule want CX tires that you can run relatively at low pressure. Reports are that the course is in good condition but there is rain forecast for Friday nite
Phuoc didn’t have any knobbies lying around. I still have time to figure that out I suppose and grab a pair of something else before Sunday.
Right now they are 38s rather slick. I can drop the pressure to whatever you CX experts advise.October 19, 2018 at 1:27 am #1090600Boo Boo

Since I inadvisedly registered for DCCX with no bike I was forced to find one. Here she is. Frame found lying around at the Bike Club, built up with parts cannibalized from other bikes.
We know little about it, because the previous owner painted over identifying branding. Here’s me ghost-riding it home from the shop.
And here it is with new, more obnoxious, handlebar tape
That looks like a bike I sold to Bike Club in July. If it is the same one, it was a Craigslist find for me a few years ago and I used it as a singlespeed/rain commuter for a while. It’s a Jamis Coda frame and fork that the guy I got it from had painted over in that ugly yellow because that was his girlfriend-at-the-time’s favorite color, but they broke up before he finished fully rebuilding it as a SS for her, thus the mismatched frame and fork, and the cheap price he dumped it for on CL.
If it has a Arlington registration sticker, or the markings from one, and a sloppily etched TR on the bottom where the serial # would be – SN actually very vaguely visible, but not really readable – it’s the same bike.
Enjoy!

(I can still offer them; just not sure how to work the logistics of getting them to you short of “right before the race that morning”)

One set is a Kenda K161 KrossCyclo 35mm, the other was something stock on a bike and you might could have those for keeps. PM me if interested.

Yep. I saw the TR etched on the BB. Repurposed once again as a newbie CX bike.

If it rains some Friday night (tonight) and they race all day Saturday under cloudy skies with a high in the mid-60’s, will the course be dry enough Sunday at 9am to use these 38s? Or do I need to run by huskerdont’s house?October 25, 2018 at 9:29 pm #1090824RiderOnTheStorm
ParticipantHere is my bike, got it on ebay few month ago, I was worried about the wooden frame but it is pretty strong, so it is not an issue at all

ParticipantCo-Mo shmo-mo, Santa brought me THIS gem. Complete with a matching red (also previously used) bow, some new drivetrain parts, and decent knobby tires. I’ve verified that it will navigate dirt and gravel (though I discovered I’m afraid of big roots).

This mutt of uncertain origins is one Shady character, hence its new name.

ParticipantMy ride, photographed earlier this summer…
At 3,961 miles tallied for the year (last Friday morning) I had my first spill.
Rear wheel slipped out from under me, on a wet manhole cover. Fortunately no bike damage; I may still decide to see a doctor if my egg-sized knot on my shin doesn’t diminish soon…
(Edit: The Cafe, a throttleless pedal assist from Vintage Electric Bikes out of Santa Clara, CA.)

Apologies – I just edited the original post.
It is a Cafe model from Vintage Electric Bikes of California. A pedal-assist without a throttle.
Stoked to have just ticked over, this past Friday (after the spill mentioned above) 4,000 total miles biked since March. For background, I’d not ridden a bike regularly for at least 20 years prior to this, and started out at 303 pounds when the bike arrived (6 foot 2 inches, 49 y/o). I’m now down 55 pounds, and will hopefully close out 2018 with 110 office commutes as well. To say it has been transformative in my life this year is putting it mildly…January 4, 2019 at 4:27 am #1093093Boomer Cycles
ParticipantHere’s my latest N+1, a Bike Friday Pocket Companion, being modeled by the QOM @SarahBee [emoji219]. I found it on Craigslist for $300, and it was suffering from flat tire Juju until I installed new tires and squirted Slime all over it.
