ParticipantFirst (probably only ever) carbon for me:

All the others are steel (this replaces the sole aluminum). It’s a bit amazing how responsive it is, even compared to the custom steel one that weighs only a little bit more. Hills are even more fun now. Happy.
Only problem is that N = 7 and I need to get rid of one more. Think it will have to be the 1965 Schwinn Varsity converted to a fixie that only gets used on the trainer. If anyone has recs on the best organization to donate it to….

ParticipantThis is the one I’ve been riding almost exclusively since moving out to Leesburg.
Its a Motobecane century ti frameset, built with an ultegra hydro groupset. Its wonderful fun on the farm roads west of town and surprisingly adept on the pavement as well.

ParticipantNew bike day! I bought a Schwinn Paramount tandem today.
I rode it solo from Capital Hill back to Arlington. Here it is on a stop to refuel at the Weenie Beenie after pulling that heavy frame all by myself. I briefly contemplated hiring a day laborer from across the street to be a stoker for the last two miles home.

It’s not too late to sign up for Grusk where the mission of the tandem bike category is “One bike, two riders, one mission! Go fast!”

ParticipantThis is very tempting, but sadly, I have a torn quadricep that’s currently preventing me from doing any serious climbing.

ParticipantFriday was new bike day for me! I added a Jamis Renegade Escapade to my herd. Bikenetic built it up for me with a few extra pink touches which I love. I’m really looking forward to taking it on some gravel rides and doing some light touring with it.

And of course the ever important Madonna del Ghisallo was added to the bike to keep it safe…

ParticipantSo a few months ago I traded Christian an ’88 Haro BMX bike for the Alpine that was in the shop in Del Ray. I picked up a pair of Nuovo Record pedals for it, and I have a new cassette on the way, as I’m pretty sure the skipping in one gear is a worn cassette. It’s a nice ride! I think I may keep the NR pedals for the completeness of the Campy set, but swap for a set of Looks for actual riding.

and the Haro.

ParticipantFinally finished the transformation to a plus bike (27.5+). The 3.0″ tires are fun on these light wheels. Haven’t actually ridden it off-road yet, though. Maybe if it stops raining someday the trails will dry up.

Funky fresh! That front fork looks too plain and is screaming for a vinyl wrap

ParticipantThat’s a great idea…
. I plan eventually to get another suspension fork (though am gonna ride this rigid for awhile first), but this was an inexpensive way to switch everything over to boost.l spacing. @drevil 179914 wrote:

ParticipantSince I inadvisedly registered for DCCX with no bike I was forced to find one. Here she is. Frame found lying around at the Bike Club, built up with parts cannibalized from other bikes.
We know little about it, because the previous owner painted over identifying branding. Here’s me ghost-riding it home from the shop.
And here it is with new, more obnoxious, handlebar tape

You need to get that thing coated with mud as soon as possible.

ParticipantWhat tires are on that thing? Yule want CX tires that you can run relatively at low pressure. Reports are that the course is in good condition but there is rain forecast for Friday nite
