What’s the second stem for?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That was simply a parts-bin number for testing the fit. The final stem will be a velo orange cigne.

The fork is made by Crust Bikes and they call it the Clydesdale. 1 & 1/8 steerer, disc-only, and it’s built for a 20″ wheel with (I believe) a 9mm QR axle.

ParticipantSo, I’m dealing with the “Granny Weatherwax’s broom” issue: How many parts can I replace on my bike before it’s not the same bike?
Here’s what it looked like when I got it:

Since then, I’ve replaced:
* Saddle
* Right derailleur
* Both wheels, inner tubes, and tires
* Bottom bracket
* Chain
* Cassette
* Crank
* Rear reflector (replaced with a Fly6 tail light/video camera combination)
* Brake pads
* Front caliper
* Kickstand
* Handlebar grips
* Miscellaneous cables of various typesI’ve also added:
* Two headlights (one a Fly12, which is also a video camera)
* Two more tail lights in addition to the Fly6
* Panniers
* Bar Mitts
* Horn
* Cell phone cradle
* Part to raise the handlebars (don’t even know what it’s called)
* Wheel lights
* Reflective triangle for the back
* Fenders
* Bike computerSo tell me, is this the same bike?

Well, I don’t know that it will ever be “cool,” exactly. It is, after all, a five-year-old Trek 7300 underneath all that. But it’s perfectly adapted to what I want to do with it–commute 25 miles a day, and keep doing that through Freezing Saddles.

Sounds cool to me 😎

“Moped”? Fun to ride but don’t want to be seen on it…..
Kidding aside, Interesting build.

ParticipantI think of it as the same bike as long as it’s the same frame. Going the other way though, where I took all the parts off a broken Felt and put them on an $80 Nashbar frame, I’m a bit confused.
My favorite part of your bike is the blue spoke lights. Want.

Those are easy. Here’s a link to it on Amazon.
They come with red, green, and blue lights initially. However, the red ones seem to go first. So I’ve just saved the green and blue ones, and use those to replace the red one when it burns out. The one in the picture is two blues and a green.

ParticipantI use these lights – mostly because they’re (a) cheap and (b) lightweight because I’m a weight weenie.

I have them in purple, blue, pink and green. 😎

I think I like those better. Would probably only put them on the rain bike, though the CX on a snowy day would prolly be okay too.

Ha! I was going for funky / weird. With that in mind I present the Cargodale:

Ordered a green and a blue yesterday. Have a like. (Thanks also to cvcalhoon for the idea.)
