Thanks to Pete Beers and Bikenetic I have a new 54 Jamis Renegade ELITE that will be my stateside bike replacing a 30 year old Raleigh that has a cracked seat tube and was always breaking spokes.

    Beautiful bike!

I would be interested in hearing how you like the Hy/Rd brakes. I have heard great things. If you aren’t wowed by the performance, my suggestion would be to change out the rotors; my TRP brakes worked much better (better braking and less shudder) with Avid HSX/HS1 rotors.

That looks like the EXPLOIT. The Elite is carbon. Curse you tall people with deep pockets and multiple bikes…

I got an old LeMond frame for Christmas and finally built it as a fixie with an Eno wheel set I had.

You are exactly right, don’t know why I put down ELITE(other than I can capitalize all the letters. And who are you calling tall?

I got this DIY loaner bike last week which was a neglected Trek Mountain Bike 3700 series that had been left outside in Portishead, UK (where it rains alot)for the past 3 months. The chain was rusted out and there was no lube to be found anywhere, so I decided to use some olive oil on the drive train and cables so that I could ride it back to Bristol UK where I now reside.

The 26 x 2.0 knobby tires were a bear to push around, so I bumped down to a pair of used but not abused Schwabe Marathon Plus tires

I still need to tear down and lube the front suspension fork, but that will be for another time.

I finally got paid at my new job in the UK, and then promptly had an unexpected but expensive visit from @SarahBee, who unduly influenced me to buy this folding bicycle, because @KarenW was getting one, and they are recruiting players to join their DC franchise, expansion Brompton Polo league team.

Bromptons hold their value extremely well, and there are not that many on the used market, so I decided to buy a new one instead (albeit a limited edition model, so it should hold its value even more so). But they are pricey, and never go on sale….and an absolute marvel of engineering as well as to ride.

Sometimes you get a flat tire and then you realize that you haven’t looked at your spare in so long that it’s flat, too.
