New tires! Something a little better suited to carring panniers full of groceries.

Had fun riding the mountain bike today. The recent flood carried away a bunch of pavement on the CCT

Borrowing my friend’s 1990 Schwinn touring bike!

The frame’s a little too big for me (hence the nearly slammed stem *and* seat post; standover is…intimate), but I’m going to ride it for the next few days anyway. Some Campagnolo components, along with a Shimano RD, Suntour chain rings, and Specialized cranks. Being a total beater, it’s ready for the BTWD deluge, too.

That uncontrollable urge to CHANGE EVERYTHING.

PSA: Sturmey Archer shifters don’t play nice with Paul Thumbies, not without much urging.

    So, here’s my latest creation:

As you may know, I lament the inability to find cheap kid’s bikes that aren’t mountain bikes. So, I made a cross bike for my younger daughter, who wanted to try drop bars. It must be a cross bike since it has cross levers.
Her hands are still a little short to ride the hoods and brake from the main levers. Of course, all good bikes come with old style friction barend shifters.:p

She doesn’t like the bars to be lower than the seat–so this is where the adjustable stem comes in. She may not realize it, but over time she may notice the handlebars slowly sinking and being moved forward.

Bikes purchased for recreational use will sooner or later be put to work. It’s a rule.

Haha, yeah, I guess that rule doesn’t apply to everyone. i broke my workhorse on Saturday riding recreationally, the back up needs a brake job so the Kona Fire Mountain has to pull the plow this week.

I’m in Vegas for work for the week so i rented a bike and went for a very cool (and hard) ride through Red Rock Canyon just outside of town.
