ParticipantI’m sure it’s still a fine bike, but jamis made me sad when the decided to call the “satellite”s “quest”s and them add the new meaningless modifier “elite” to distinguish the original quest. Why is it such a problem for each model to have its own name? (FWIW, I hate the meaningless modifiers for all manufacturers, not just jamis.) If they start calling them all “Eclipse” next year, stick a fork in it.

ParticipantJamis was what got me in the door at Proteus – I looked at them online and thought that’s exactly what I wanted. Turns out the geometry on the Volpe was a lot better for me, so that’s what I ended up with, but everything else about the Jamis was cool.
Agree with mstone about dumb naming conventions, though since i drive a Mazda 3 (go look it up online, you have to choose “Mazda” then “Mazda3”, it’s terrible) I guess I can’t say it affects my purchasing decisions.

ParticipantI thought I definitely wanted the Bianchi Lupo (Sora version of the Volpe), but was swayed by the sportier and lighter Jamis. Thought it would encourage me to go for a little more speed on my commute. Plus I like the lifetime Jamis frame warranty. We’ll have to meetup sometime and exchange notes on the respective rides!

All the stupid naming is pretty ridiculous. Ironically, when bringing the bike home today I was driving the whole way behind a Nissan Quest minivan!

My commuter in CX mode with the new bigger 42/38 (f/r) tires. (I learned the hard way that I still can’t bomb down rocky singletrack like I’m on a MTB.) I love the DR bridge under the Dulles Toll Road; have been meaning to take a #bikeunderabridge photo here for awhile.April 25, 2014 at 6:05 pm #999550TwoWheelsDC

Yeah, same bike. I’ve got a good setup now w/ quick-remove fenders & obviously separate wheels. I love this bike, though it’s not perfect — would prefer zip-tie “stops” for the rear brake, tapered headtube so I could run a 15mm thru-axle fork. But it’s perfect enough
