A likely story.

I’ve come to the inevitable conclusion that all my bikes are just variations of my Fargo. My Pompino is my Fargo-lite, for pootling about and randomly going off-road; my Troll is my Fargo for the apocalypse, and my Fargo is my Fargo for Fargoing.

My new acquisition, in the spirit of n+1:

1984 Schwinn World. I think almost all the components are original (the seat and bottle cage are not). A friend of mine in Delaware got a nice old Raleigh and passed the Schwinn on to me for nothing! It runs like a thirty-year-old bike: the drivetrain rattles a bit, the breaks creak, etc., but I’m having a great time with it. Someday it might make a nice fixie: it has a good frame for it, with nice dropouts. I feel pretty lucky (and I have awesome friends)!

After the incident of breaking my Giant Transend’s handlebars, Bikenetics discovered (with Dirt’s help?) thtat the frame had a crack in the seat tube. I took it back to Papillion Cycles where I bought, and they contacted Giant who agreed to replace the frame under their lifetime warranty. I also had Papillion replace the shifter/brake levers and the rear rack. The first frame Giant shipped was the wrong model, not disc brake compatible (I had the LX version). Giant stopped selling that model in the US in 2009 and they did not a replacement frame in my original copper/orange. My new frame (EX model) is an olive drab, but doesn’t look to bad with the orange front fork. Maybe Giant wanted the bike to look like their Seek 3.

That looks so much like a bike I had as a kid.

Love the double kickstand! I put one on my main commuter, and think it’s marvy.

She’s a beaut. And I say that not only because of my love of fenders, racks, and bar end shifters. :) Enjoy!!!

I have a friend who built one up with mustache bars and a porter rack up front. Very stately ride.

Lovely ride Thomistic, a Nitto rack up front would look lovely as well. See you on the trails

    Clear violation of Rule #44.

The rules make very clear exceptions for non-road bikes (e.g., Surly LHT and Big Dummy in rule 66). I am not a rules expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel that the rack and fenders already make half of these rules inapplicable, no?

(I’m sure there will be a reply quoting another rule that trumps all others proving my above notion to be utter nonsense)
