The photo below is pretty typical, although at this time of year, I’ve also got Bar Mitts on the handlebars.

Finally finished the build of my disc-brake road bike that I started back in October. Sadly I have only had an opportunity to ride it around the neighborhood while fine-tuning fit. Maybe tomorrow I can take it for a proper spin. Initial impressions are that it is a fantastic bike. I love the disc brakes.

You really like your black bikes (and this one is a beauty!)

No longer mine, but I found is bike in the trash. Sold it a year or so ago via the MORE forums for $150. Still not my best ever trash find bike by far.

My best ever trash find was this early 80s Cook Brothers MTB. Lots of great parts from MAFAC cantilevers, motercycle brake levers with little adapters to use road brake cables, real Moots mount welded to the fork and Antler/first gen Deore parts.

I found it after getting dropped off a Cat 2 wannabee ride in the late 1990’s. It was in horrid shape. I sold the frame and fork to a guy starting a mtb museum in San Diego for $1500. Before shipping it out, I got an offer of $5000 from a silicon valley company that wanted it for their office, but it was too late.

He did not want the parts. I sold the crank and BB for $250, the Mafac cantis for ~$150 and the brake levers for $100. Was back in the late 90’s when people were crazy for such things. Bet you could barely give such things away these days.

Hey dismal, I actually put derailleurs back on a bike today. Converted a singlespeed back to gears. I’d forgotten how cool friction shifters are.

I’m picturing OneEighth shaking his head slowly, a single tear running down his cheek.

I bike to the grocery store! All I have on the back of my bike is a milk crate and some bungees, though. Kinda jealous now…

Next I want to do a run to Costco on my bike. Don’t really need anything at them moment though.

Booze! $20 for a liter of Costco-brand añejo tequila. Not the best stuff, but $20! :)

A liter of cheap tequila, what could go wrong?
