True newbie question: I know the driver and the stoker must the same cadence/stroke on a tandem but calling the person in back the “stoker” seems to imply that person provides more power than the person in front. Is that true?

I have a tandem MTB if you’d like to try. No we won’t be able to ride over logs and stuff and yes you will be providing most of the power.

That would be great fun to try but you won’t get any power out of me at the moment since I’m battling a wicked case of piriformis syndrome (butt muscle spasms that squeeze the sciatic nerve at random). When my PS clears up I may take you up on the offer. Have always wanted to try a tandem and I presume you’d be the bug shield.
