What are you using to hang your bike up with? Does it ever fall down and go boom?

That’s a Jack’s Bike Rack that I bought online about 3 or 4 years ago – a quick check of teh Googles suggests Jack isn’t around anymore.

It’s 4 pieces of 1/2″-ish conduit held together with set screw couplings to make 2 long pieces that stick into angled holes in a wooden block that has a short length of conduit stuck through the middle with rubber caps on the ends. It just leans against the wall.

It’s a little janky (the uprights flex in the middle at the couplings and my bike is heavy so it tends to twist to one side) and occasionally falls over on my head when I’m getting the bike off of it, but I think it cost something like $30 and it fits nicely next to/behind the front door of the apartment. Does what I need it to, mostly :)

I’ve done that a few times. It isn’t easy.

Although it does make track standing at red lights much simpler. The key is to ride the heavier bike.

    Yep, that looks pretty reflective.

BTW, Planet Bike fenders are 1000% easier to install than SKS. Also, their black fenders are actually black.

Love the Evel Knievel fenders…. I take back what I said last night… you don’t need a new bike, your’s is looking pretty swank these days!

All my goodies in one swoop:

    1) Trek 7.2 FX – love the black color
    2) TITEC barends borrowed from an abandoned bike in the landlords basement.
    3) Garmin 200 GPS
    4) New Bell bike helmet. Big improvement over the old skateboarder helmet.
    5) Bright yellow Pearl Izumi convertible cycling jacket.

Once I get up to a 14-15 mph average and get a few thousand miles on the Garmin,
i’ll be upgrading to a Cyclocross. Kona Jake here I come…?

Virtually nothing on that bike is stock.

Got pulled over by a fox hunt…. twice. Didn’t see any foxes. Saw a few cougars in Middleburg when we stopped for coffee though.

I thought cougars were more likely to be hanging out in bars…

$33 to fix a flat tire? I was actually pleased that it was so cheap.
