I also should try these roads in the spring/summer/fall instead of just the dead of winter. Some of the most beautiful scenery can seem kind of bleak when all the trees have lost their leaves.
I’ll be at the Cap2Cap ride this spring, starting at the Richmond end.
Try spring or fall. Summer there can be even hotter and more humid than here. It is my least favorite season!
I’m also doing Cap to Cap but from Williamsburg since we have a place about 2 miles from the start. Maybe we can get a Bike Arlington contingent together.

I plan on being down there too! My in-laws live in Richmond, so we’ll probably start from there. I think my father-in-law is toying with the idea of doing the full century (which I’ll do whether he does or not), but after struggling with the 59 mile route on the Tour of Richmond, he’s a little gun shy. I’ve assured him that there’s no way the Cap2Cap will be hilly, but I also said that about the Tour of Richmond….my definition of hilly is quite a bit different than his.

Isn’t the Cap to Cap the day before [the tentative date for] BikeDC? Drive down early Saturday morning, ride a century, drive back in the evening, get up early on Sunday morning to be a ride marshal. Sounds like a great weekend [except for the driving part].

This is what happens when you remove natural predators from the area.

One was up early yesterday morning. They were all 3 up by the time I rode by in the afternoon. There’s another art thingie (I think) across the street near the fountains. I’ll photog it tomorrow.
