ParticipantOfficially entitled, “The Equestrian” this massive statue at the El Paso International Airport greets all visitors. The worst shot, of course, is the one with my bike in it. The others are so you can see the detail of the casting.
It is supposedly Don Juan de Oñate. It is not without controversy and was vandalized after George Floyd’s murder. That stirred up even more controversy.

ParticipantStrathmore Arts Center, 5301 Tuckerman Ln, North Bethesda, MD 20852. This tortured soul is obviously trying to get onto my bike. Let’s hope he feels better after a nice ride.

This is located on the Mount Vernon Trail, heading south from Daingerfield Island (or north from Old Town), as the path goes past a fence just just outside of Old Town Alexandria.

I didn’t do the snowstorm challenge because a) I forgot and b) there was no bad weather where I am so it seemed a little unfair.
But today I had an excellent day. They called to say they’d be releasing mom from the hospital today. They had been saying Sunday … so this was awesome, but I was thinking it would mean no bike ride. Of course, I forgot that getting out of there takes even MORE time than getting in there . . . so I had plenty of time to ride down to the local watering hole (ha ha). It’s a shopping/restaurant area that was converted from a huge factory that was there for years. (Ever heard of Farah pants?). The property is called “The Fountains” and those are my public art for today.

Glad to hear your mom is leaving the hospital early! And that you got in a good ride as well.

ParticipantThere was no placard to name this sculpture, but ironically it was in front of the Adult Probation building for El Paso County.
As I’m married to a pilot, I do not much like this piece. Nevertheless, it’s “art”.
