2/27/2022 Bonus entry
This is one of three panels of a mural called “The Course of Life is Ever Onward” on the side of Dawson’s Market, at the corner of N. Washington Street and Beall Avenue in Rockville. The first panel depicts Rockville’s rural past, and the only Black person in it is a minister in the window of a church. (I doubt that is historically accurate; Maryland was after all a slave state.) In this middle panel, the three baseball players are from Dawson Field, which in those segregated times was where Black youths could play baseball. The third panel is much more diverse.

Two rides today, so two public arts!

First: a mural neighborhood kids did as a “community benefit” of a new development. This is along the driveway to 3025 4th NE in DC.

Second is a mural alongside the Ft Totten Transfer Station and soon-to-open MBT extension.

The artist’s website says that they are “guagua” (Quechua for baby). Maybe stylized baby wrapped in blanket?
