A little backstory to this. These were created as works of public art a while back when I was part of the Friends Group at RR. Our friends group was directed to fund one and we didn’t like them so declined to do so. But a regional library couldn’t be left out, so RR ended up with the one the other libraries didn’t want. It suffers greatly due to the use of the library porch as a place for those sleeping rough but it comes in handy for a valentine themed work of art!

I love it regardless that it’s a little worn! Met a gent who’s without a home while I was taking this photo. He was waiting for an appointment with a social worker at the Shelter next door, hoping to get into some longer term housing and a job. Very pleasant conversation with him. Wished him the best of luck, and he wished me a happy Valentine’s Day.

Bonus?

A mural in downtown El Paso depicting the Christ figure on top of Mount Cristo Rey (Christ the King). The Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe provides health care to disadvantaged Hispanic families in El Paso. The mural and sculpture was done by Cesar Inostroza.

I’m trying to find out who the man and woman are on the mural.
