This work, honoring Alexandria’s historic African American community, was originally at Waterfront park, but is now located near Jefferson Houston school, close to the Cameron Street bike lane

It’s an Infinity bike seat, https://infinitybikeseat.com/ Most bike seats try to put all the pressure on your seat bones, to keep it off your private parts. This one takes a different approach. It cradles the entire fatty part of your butt, so you don’t get a lot of pressure on any one spot. And there is no middle to it, so no pressure on your private parts.

It took a couple of weeks to get used to in the beginning. But since then, it has been the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever owned, particularly for long rides @Boomer2U 216160 wrote:

That is an interesting saddle on your bike. What’s the story, and verdict, on it?

I had an Infinity on my second ride with Fuller (half cross country) and never did get used to it. I ended up returning it. One of my long-distance riding friends loved it. Like all saddles — it’s SO blinkin’ individual!

Squeezed in a ride between mom’s 85th bd celebration with all of her tennis friends and impending darkness. So a quick dash to Marty Robbins Park where the art du jour is this wonderful basketball and player. Never mind that there are 3 baseball diamonds and 2 soccer fields.

Three pieces of art honoring William B. Gibbs, Jr. (1905-1984) found in Rockville Town Square, 200 East Middle Lane in Rockville. Among his other accomplishments, he was the plaintiff in Gibbs v. Broome, in which the NAACP, represented by Thurgood Marshall, sued Montgomery County Public Schools over the fact it was paying Black teachers less than White ones. Even under the then “separate but equal” standards of Plessy v. Ferguson, MCPS knew it had a losing case and settled

Note: I don’t believe this one constitutes a forbidden monument or memorial. However, just in case the Faceless Cabal (who looks a lot like Boomer) disagrees, let me know and I will replace this with another photo taken on the same ride.

This mural at the Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave., Rockville represents the people of historically Black Lincoln Park in Rockville. The mural is huge, and there was no way I could get the whole thing in and still have any part of the artwork discernable, but this is at least a segment of it.

Yeah – I’ve been using them on all of my bikes for the past ~5 years. Definitely not for everyone, but for me, it’s actually jarring to ride on a “normal” saddle. I have found that the less “weird” looking (where they have decorative “leather” in the opening) works a bit better for me when I’m more upright, but it is such an individual choice.

2/12 – Today, it looked like some maintenance was underway on the various totems and other installations alongside the MBT near Rhode Island Avenue. This is one that wasn’t being actively worked on when I went through this afternoon.

They look like some of my origami pieces after I’ve gotten frustrated!
