Hi Everyone, Introducing myself for this year’s competition. I started riding bikes a couple of years ago when I moved into DC. I commute by bike and metro 3 times per week and ride my bike on the weekends since then.

This will be the second time I participate. Hoping to get more involved with the community.

Hello. I live in Navy Yard and I’m hoping to cycle outside more this winter than I have in the past.

Hey, I’m Griffin. I usually commute to and from work via bike once a week (20 miles roundtrip) (e-bike twice a week), plus a ride on the weekend. Figured I’ll give the “friend of FS” a try. Excited to participate!

Hi!  I just finished a group bike ride where someone recommended Freezing Saddles.  I’ve cycled regularly for over a dozen years in DC, though this is my first time participating!

    Hey everyone,

I’m new here and just wanted to introduce myself and share a quick cycling story. I’ve been riding for a few years now, mostly doing weekend rides around the city and some weekend getaways to nearby trails. Last summer, I decided to tackle my first overnight bikepacking trip. I’d always heard about the beauty of cycling through the night, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

I planned a route that would take me from Arlington to a campground about 50 miles away, and I wanted to get an early start. The ride went smoothly during the day, but as the sun started to set, I realized just how important good lighting would be for the ride ahead. That’s when I remembered I had recently upgraded my gear with a Gaciron Raptor-1800 headlight and the Loop-100 taillight, and I was so glad I did.

The Raptor-1800 gave me incredible visibility as the darkness rolled in, lighting up the road ahead even in some pretty dense, low-light areas. It was bright enough to make sure I could see clearly and alert drivers to my presence. The Loop-100, on the other hand, was small but super bright, and it worked perfectly to keep me visible from behind, especially when I hit some of the quieter stretches of the trail.

Long story short, my bikepacking adventure turned out to be one of the best cycling experiences I’ve had—safely completing my ride with reliable lights made all the difference. And even though I didn’t expect it to, the Gaciron lights definitely gave me that extra sense of security and confidence on my ride.

If you’re interested in checking them out, you can find more information on their official site here: https://www.gaciron-shop.com/.

Anyway, just wanted to share that story and say hi! Looking forward to connecting with everyone here and hearing about your own cycling adventures.

    Safe riding!
