Attention! I postpone this ride until Sunday, Feb 26. Tomorrow is rainy and not safe to ride in a group.
Sorry if this is an inconvenience but safety is first.

It is good, Serdar, to postpone the ride for rain, but not due to safety: due to comfort/fun.
It is not at all unsafe to ride in the rain, either alone or in groups. In fact, like this morning’s warmish rain, it can actually be a lot of fun. I prefer not to make statements about safety that may discourage people from riding bikes. Many already think bike riding is a dangerous activity; the last thing we want to do is corroborate those fears.

So yes, postpone the ride for weather, but don’t tell people it’s due to safety when it’s not.

Come to Lazy Mike’s for pancakes.
Then join us on a post-pancake ride, organized by our incomparable team captain, Dr Bullet (aka Nigel)

    Details:
    Date: Monday, February 20, 2023
    8:30am – 9:45am: Meet for coffee/pancakes etc at meet-up at Lazy Mike’s (7049 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22046; lazymikesdeli.com)
9:45am: Actual Ride Start – Ride to DC along WOD/Custis Trails
10:30am: Secondary Ride start – Meet DC/Maryland riders by Starbucks at Washington Harbour/Georgetown waterfront (3050 K Street Northwest Washington Harbour, Washington, DC 20007)).
10:45am: Ride suggested loop route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3055752510259954806

This route is not too long or strenuous and should get us back into DC for lunch/beer/coffee …whatever is your preference (open to suggestions for venue on return to DC).

    Freezing Saddlers,

The ride that I had to postpone for the weather is happening this Sunday!

Join me, Jessica, and Andrea on a Kent Island ride on Sunday, February 26, at 10 am.

This ride is 34 miles on a wide and smooth bike path that travels the island from North to South. Jessica will lead this ride and take us to the Bay Bridge’s lovely views. We will visit the local fishing pier and ride out ‘n back to the crab marina and lighthouse. At mile 26, there is a little store, but feel free to bring your healthy snacks. Bathrooms at the start, Silver Swan, fishing pier, and marina store. Here is the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34016170

The trail is 100% paved and flat; the weather will be around 50 degrees. Free parking is available at Bats Neck Park. Meet at 9:45, wheels out at 10:00 am.

The Dog 8 My Bollards team invites anyone who would like to join for a ride to visit our team captain, Nigel (DrBullet), this Sunday, March 5.

Nigel had a crash a week ago, and fractured his pelvis and sacrum. He is happy to welcome visitors. I plan to bring brownies.

Time: 12:00 gather, 12:15 wheels up
Start location: Basketball court on W&OD near East Falls Church (here)
    Ride route: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5425440997/

A reminder that today is the Pete Beers-th Day of Freezing Saddles (best number EVAR) so if you are inclined to do something ill-advised (but fun) on a bike, this is a good day to do it in his memory.

    3/17/23 – St Patrick’s day Team 9 ride – infiltrators welcome!

The catch is, it’s on Friday, when a lot of people will be working. But it seems a lot of ppl have flexible schedules now – a pandemic silver lining perhaps [emoji848].
Also I’m planning to keep the pace at 12-15mph.

    Anyhow the plan is:

11am Columbia Island start, 27- 35 ish miler going up the ART & over to Rock Creek trail or the Capital Crescent trail & back down to Columbia Island – (or possibly the MBT – that’s the 27 mile option.)

Check back here for updates – the ride won’t start earlier than 11, but I gave my teammates the option to change the start time to as late as noon – so I’ll update of that happens. (Plus I’m still working on the route between Bladensburg and Beach Drive or the MBT. [emoji16][emoji1744])

Please lmk (comment below) if you’re thinking of joining us do I can keep an eye out for you. [emoji2]
