(It sure doesn’t look like a comfy, or well-handling ride…!)September 21, 2021 at 1:39 pm #1114747sjclaeysParticipantWaPo article on E-bike etiquette. Discuss amongst yourselves:https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/ebike-safety-etiquette-risk-rules/2021/09/20/ec78e958-163b-11ec-9589-31ac3173c2e5_story.html
January 14, 2022 at 12:35 pm #1116549DeweyParticipantThis week Lime launch their new ebike for their DC Bikeshare fleet
http://dlvr.it/SH04ps
This article in the Verge claims improvements despite the bike weighing 72lb and having only 2-speed gearing which is slightly heavier but with a narrower gear range than the red Jump bikeshare ebikes these new Lime ebikes will replace. They can share batteries with Lime scooters which according to Lime is why they’re better for the company, time will tell if sharing batteries makes it more likely a rider can find a charged bike.February Update: Welp! my bike is in the shop for major surgery and it looks like I’ll be riding either CaBi+ or the new Lime ebikes for the next couple of weeks
February 11, 2022 at 10:37 pm #1119125DeweyParticipantFYI the owner of the Pedego Alexandria ebike shop Todd Ketch is opening a second Pedego shop in Vienna, VA. March 31, 2022 at 3:07 am #1121526DeweyParticipantI had to replace the Nexus 8 IGH on my DIY e-bike because it broke, so I had Papillon Cycles fit an Enviolo Cargo hub. I wrote a blog post about the process https://ebikelovers.com/2022/03/28/review-the-enviolo-continuously-variable-transmission-cvt-for-e-bikes/

Any idea where the new store is located?
August 30, 2022 at 12:46 am #1121859DeweyParticipantNo news on the Vienna store, but another ebike shop has opened the North End of Old Town Alexandria, Strictly Ebikes
November 8, 2022 at 4:02 am #1121985DeweyParticipantCall2Recycle now have a map of collection sites where ebike batteries can be dropped off for recycling. Map link https://www.call2recycle.org/locator/?ebike=1. Arlington residents can also recycle e-bike batteries at Arlington County biannual E-CARE events.
February 22, 2023 at 6:53 pm #1125476Brendan von BuckinghamParticipantTip to ebike riders who barely pass me going up a hill. Stop with the cheerleading. “You can do it.” “Way to go.” Twice in two days. Tell me something I don’t know. I just turned 53 and have been doing this for over 30 years without a motor on my cycle. It’s either condescending or elder abuse. I can’t tell.

I once had an e-bike overtake me on the C&O and the rider called out, “I’m not really faster than you, I’m just on an ebike.” Well, I didn’t think my roadie ego was THAT fragile. LOL.

It’s not just e-bike riders[emoji3] Signs are on the climb up Beverly Drive from Russell Road in Alexandria.

This is not that other rider lazing and leaning on his electric motor. The above is different, and I don’t mind it. Next best thing to having Didi the Devil cheering you on as you climb!
