If you’re cheap enough not to carry your own pump, Takoma Park trails have you covered!

Being car-less for almost 20 years, I’m glad I don’t have to drive around in search of cheap gas

Participant1/3/25 – cheap
I was too cheap to pay full price so I got my kids* bikes at Phoenix Bikes.
…which is a great bike shop, btw – I highly recommend!
*My kids are all grown up btw. I’m talking about big bikes. My son is 6’2″ and uses his bike in NYC. My daughter lives near him and has the small adult Cannondale I bought her when she was in middle school. The Phoenix peeps told her she could keep it till she was 5’2″. We had diminutive relatives lined up for that bike, but my daughter topped out just shy of 5’2″ so she kept it 😁🤷🏻

ParticipantKelley that’s interesting about the Arlington trail agreement. Sounds about right. Shame about the rest of the trail. The plowing of the w&od is a recent development though, even in Arlington. I hope it continues – the brine lines make me feel like probably yes, at least for the moment.
Also I saw the brine truck on the Custis this morning while I was riding. It only did a half mile into the Custis from the w&od while I was riding, but hopefully it came back later. Maybe I’ll check tomorrow.
I know the bridge over Langston isn’t officially called the Pete Beers bridge. That’s why I clarified that I was talking about the new bridge over Langston. (I’ll edit it to add “at Washington Blvd.”) Some FS folks led an effort to have it named after him, but it seems there’s a rule in place that nothing can be named after people unless they’ve been dead for a coupla decades. I don’t know the rationale, but booooo…..

Not only is Dollar Tree famous for its cheap goods, but this one was too cheap to replace the burned out bulbs in its sign.

From a “cheap date” post, the Butterfly Pavilion at the Museum of Natural History on the Mall. Free-flying butterflies!
I’m having trouble uploading my submission in a Hilton at L’Enfant Plaza, so please don’t ding me if this uploads twice. I don’t see it. Should be okay.

Instead of frantically flapping its wings, this eagle is relaxing and just gliding on the air currents.
