    5/24/24 – glide

Beth’s got me on a training plan for the BonTon. She’s really good at this, so if I do it right I just might GLIDE through the tour!

Beth is tapering this week for a race on Saturday, so she only had 2 hours to ride. I, on the other hand, am training for a 7 day tour of the finger lakes in late July, so…..

    1. Instead of meeting me on Beach Drive as usual, she made me a route to get all the way to her house in Takoma park. When I got there she took me for a ride, and brought me back to Beach in u ugh  Drive, where we said goodbye & I rode down rock creek trail, across key bridge & up the Custis to home. So today Beth rode 29 miles and I rode 58 😁🤷🏻🥳

Here we are on our ride break today

cvcalhoun I’m planning to catch up on all the posts I haven’t posted while you’re away  😁. Cuz I HAVE been playing…. It’s just…. I’m still having to reset my password to log in, every time. This forum keeps acting like I’ve forgotten my password when it is not I  but IT that has failed to hold onto my password….😒

And then I’m going away for a week right when you get back…. Camping & hiking but also no bikes on my vacation. Where are you going? (Or probably by the time you see this, the question will be where did you go….)

@nadine, it’s a camp in Northern Maryland. But in addition to no bicycles, it has almost no cell service, so I can check things on the Internet only some of the time, and then only after long pauses to let things load.

    5/2/24 – Bravo

I am sure “Bravo” has been heard countless times in the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts behind me.

    6/3/24 STARK

The iron fence and security checkpoints at NIH are a stark reminder of how much freedom we lost after 9/11. Before that, I routinely biked through NIH on the way to other places, and I taught my kids and my ex-wife to drive in the empty parking lots of NIH on weekends.

    6/3/24 – Stark

My photo is late and it is not as engaging as yours, Carol. I tried to capture a stark difference between sunlit and shaded areas of a path in the park.

    6/4/24 GROOM

A lot of grooms get their wedding attire from Men’s Wearhouse.

    6/5/24 ORGAN

St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church advertises that, “The pipe organ at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Church provides the foundation for a vibrant and inclusive music ministry.”

    6/6/24 ETHER

What with the fact they stopped using ether as an anesthetic when I was just a kid, I went for the other definition of ether: “the clear sky; the upper regions of air beyond the clouds.”

    6/7/24 MELON

This was a good ride. I went to a farm stand to find melons, because a supermarket just seemed too easy. And while I was there, I found some garlic scapes, which were even on a buy one/get one free sale. Garlic scapes are one of my favorite vegetables, but they are never sold in supermarkets and are only sold for a brief period each year in farm stands. Needless to say, I grabbed two big bunches.

@cvcalhoun, we could have it together in Tropical Smoothie’s Arlington or DC locations. @Nadine and others are welcome!

    6/8/24 – Hence

Croissant is baked and Ben Yays are fried. I believe, baked food is healthier. Hence, you know my choice at the end of the Conte’s Old Town ride today.

    6/8/24 HENCE

I found out yesterday that now is garlic scape season. I love garlic scapes and bought out all that Norman’s Farm Market had. I wanted more today and the Montgomery Women’s Farm Market didn’t have them. Hence, I ended up at Norman’s Farm Market for the second day in a row.
