This Capital Crescent Trail mural including a bicyclist seemed particularly appropriate to the first day of Freezing Saddles. And my own bike is doing its best impression of a disco ball in honor of New Year’s.

This particular mural seems to me to be particularly appropriate for the first day of 2024.

“P.E.A.C.E” by Hamilton Glass, Paint on PVC. In 2022, Glass was commissioned to install this mural on one of Dogwood Elementary School’s exterior walls so that the entire community could enjoy it. The mural’s central theme is the school’s motto of “Peace-Equity-Access-Connection-Excellence.” Dogwood Elemenary School is in Reston, VA.
