ParticipantYou (Fancy Carbon Fiber Race Bike): Narrowly avoiding hitting me while passing because you couldn’t slow down to safely wait to pass the pedestrian in your lane.

ParticipantI counted 6 unsafe passes of this nature between 4 mile run and 14th st bridge on the MVT yesterday afternoon while I was biking towards the mall. People seem to be so focused on the “obstacle” in front of them that they forget to pay attention to their surroundings. For some reason I feel more comfortable on a 35 mph road than the MVT sometimes.

ParticipantI’m surprised I haven’t witnessed one of those yet. I commute via bike and frequently run on 4-mile run and W&OD trails. I can’t count how many close passes I’ve had while running by people on bikes who don’t understand safe passing. When I bike, I’m sure I annoy many fair weather bikers by slowing down when I approach runners if there are oncoming bikes/pedestrians in the other lane.

ParticipantI work at the Mark Center, but not in the BRAC buildings. I commute from Ballston and don’t have any issues. Beauregard, isn’t the best but traffic is never busy enough for me to slow traffic by taking a lane.

ParticipantThis intersection is on my daily commute although, I travel through the stop signs to cross 50. As one of those people that does come to an almost complete stop while biking, I wish they would get rid of those stop signs. Traffic circles shouldn’t have stop signs since that defeats the purpose of a traffic circle.
