ParticipantI like fenders too. My folder is the only bike that has them on all the time, so it’s my go to for days like today.

ParticipantThe RSA flag zipper on it is awesome!

I was going to comment on that when I saw it but actually had no idea what to say. It speaks for itself!

ParticipantUh, what were we talking about?
Universally accepted catch-all to end any post in any thread, or any conversation at any time, anywhere, no matter how off-topic or frivolous.vvill
ParticipantI dislike riding the W&OD between about Vienna and Falls Church for this reason. There’s so many of these intersections, and you can never quite tell what is going to happen. As like others, as a driver, I don’t like driving through them either. I usually go (slightly) out of my way to avoid the W&OD intersections at Little Falls and Washington on my commute home and just ride on the roads around there instead, although neither of those two are really that bad.

ParticipantI’ve been logging all my rides for them too. I assume there were non-DCers logging for WABA.

ParticipantWow. I cannot imagine OneEighth riding this bike.

ParticipantI’d say – Hot bikes, wet coffee.

I love that Norco. Nice bike.
Not a bad deal the way they have it set up. 11 speed Alfine with drop bars and generator lights for $2200.
Indeed! Hopefully in a few more years these lovely commuter specific builds will become more widespread and cheaper (and less steal-worthy). And lighter.

ParticipantI have a regular Selle Anatomica (Titanico, not the X). Heavy, and expensive but very comfortable for me, and I specifically wanted something with a cut-out. I had it on my hybrid for a bit. I have since shuffled it off, but it could make a comeback anytime. Like anytime I get a Civia Bryant or Spot Acme or Norco Ceres (set up with drops of course).
http://www.joe-bike.com/commuter-bikes/norco/ 11 speed Alfine with carbon belt drive, dropbar+shifters, BB7 disc brakes, front dynohub. 😎
Of course, Alfine 11 Di2 is out now too…

ParticipantI was thinking about this topic while riding the other day. I think I recognise cars and/or runners more than any other cyclists. I guess I just pay attention to them more (perhaps out of necessity).

ParticipantAnytime I’m researching a bike, I’ll strike it off if it has bar end shifters. I don’t get the point either. I’d rather use downtube shifters! (Those were the first shifters on a road bike I ever used.) Brifters are the second and I’m not ever going back.

anyone on a road bike that is not a) racing or b) riding in rough terrain such as city commuting or cyclocross
I think a lot of road bike commuters around here do both at the same time = Brifters necessary!

DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.

ParticipantI might show up late and sweaty (as opposed to early and sweaty), as the Revolution Cycles ride is that night too I think.

Was this what attracted all the bikes on the McKinley street hill last night? Had I known, I would have hung a sheet on the Ohio St. bridge (facing Ohio, not 66) saying “Steel is Real.”
That was probably a different group ride, but I’d bet in either case that there were lots of shiny, shiny bikes on both.

I wore earbuds my first two months of commuting (though not loudly)
I did the same, although mostly only on my commute to/from the metro station, and usually I wore clip-ons (supra-aural). I actually wore earbuds last week during a few laps around Hains and felt so naughty. TABOO!
