Glad your crash worked out well for you, although the injuries sound rather painful.

I was hit by an SUV just two weeks ago (posted here about it already), but my accident was rather minor compare to yours. But, I still got a new full carbon fuji 2 professional (and a cheapo mountain bike) out of the deal. I don’t know about you, but I avoid the road where I was hit from now on, and I am extremely cautious when riding in general. Seeing a big SUV heading your way when you are locked into the pedals of a 25 pound frame that you balance with your own body is quite scary…

P.S. “happy endings” may be poor phrasing. I for once through that GEICO truly went above AND beyond when responding to your claim…

This turned out great for me afterall. This woman covered all my damages and then some. Revolution cycles quoted $650 in damages to my $400 bike. So now I am in the market to sell my cyclocross bike for ~$300 after i fix it up myself and buy a full carbon road bike for ~$1000. Thanks everyone!

This is a $400 bike from bikesdirect, so $400 is the limit here no matter what. Thats below most insurance deductibles, so hopefully it will work out.

If I were single, I would probably get a nice pity date out of this. Instead, I get to deal with money, repairs and injuries…

Thanks all. I took multiple pictures of the bike, my clothes, and my bleeding hand. I am getting the estimate from RevCycles at Clarendon today and sending it to this woman ASAP. So far she has been responsive, but if I don’t get a call within a few hours of me sending her a complete quote, I will call her insurance and find a lawyer.

I just started biking last April but a couple of months of training allowed me to do a century without TOO much effort by early July. W&OD roundtrip with a few miles here and there in Arlington. The second one was a doublecentury, Burlington-Montreal-Burlington in two days. Doable if you have the time and determination. I recommend playing some music and eating before you are hungry and drinking before you are thirty. And if you are a guy get some baby powder or cream for the sensitive areas
