(I’m deducing that 0% must fall into Strava’s bucket of negative-grade segments, on which they try to discourage competition.)
I bet you’re right!

The other day I came across a guy who had KOM’d the “Behind the Buildings” segment in Crystal City at 60+mph.
Huh, that’s odd. I should have gotten an email notification if I’d lost that segment.

Whoever is climbing Meade – Rhodes westbound (strava segment) at 27 mph is going faster than I think is possible.
Those numbers don’t look too far fetched–it’s only a 22 foot gain over .3 miles.

Walter Reed north from Four Mile Run. It’s not the name of the segment, though.

Does anyone have a favorite app that will do turn-by-turn voice navigation, the way google maps does for driving? I have spent zero time looking into this, but my husband has now spent hours and has come to the conclusion that there’s nothing that works on his phone (which runs android 6.0). He doesn’t want to use google maps because it won’t let him edit the suggested bike route exactly as he wants (and it tends to suggest the most direct route, which isn’t always the best for recreational rides). Is there a better option?
Could you edit the ride in Google Maps on a computer beforehand, use the “send to my phone” option, and then open it from there?

You can always pause the activity, then switch to running!

I think the record mode may be the same between biking and running.
Only difference is that in bike mode it displays mph and in run mode is display min/mile. Math is extra hard when you’re exerting yourself!

Why would anyone ride on a trainer the day after a rain storm when the weather is usually beautiful?

Just use the fan to do the drying. Trainer not needed!

ParticipantThe fan you use while you’re on the trainer works pretty too!

Good thing I didn’t email them first.
Kind of crappy by them though given some parts of the MVT have literal bushes growing halfway into the trail at curves.
They did go out a week later and cut them though. You should report it anyway.

The one click Strata app is now superfluous. Just put the Strata widget on a home page.
Can you put it into both biking and running mode from there or do you have to manually switch somehow?

I downloaded an app called “one click for strava” — tap that app once, and it opens Strava, deals with whatever adds it has to, goes to record and starts recording. LOVE IT

Tim,
Is an upstanding citizen going to get in trouble for helping with trail maintenance like we are discussing, if they so choose to take it on? I live on Washington Blvd. where they planted trees a few years ago along with new sidewalks, and some of those trees have branches overhanging the bike lane. I’d like to trim them for the commuters that use the lane if I am not going to get chewed for doing it.

I’ve been copied on email conversations where a citizen has asked if they could clear some brush themselves for NPS. NPS said no.
In this case it’s VDOT–my guess would be that they would say No if asked. But they probably wouldn’t even notice if you just did it yourself.
What would The Enabler say?
