I’m going to be in northern Finland mid-September – I had no idea they were so bike friendly and now I’m TOTALLY getting a bike while I’m there (so I can say I biked in the Arctic Circle).

I completely forgot about Pancake Monday until I passed consularrider (after which I had “like a good neighbor, statefarm is there!” in my head the whole ride in since I had just been thinking about him and lo, he appeared).

Is that young Master Cannon? I passed him on the W&OD just west of the entrance to Custis. And I think I passed you too but further east. Last night’s ride is all a blur now except for the douchecanoe who passed me without calling on the TR bridge (scared the CRAP out of me and I almost wrecked).

W&OD refreeze (but rideable with care – even by me!) just east of the tennis courts along Shreve and then a little worse between Great and Little Falls. But again, I rode it and I’m a chicken. The ice was thin enough that the texture of the blacktop wasn’t completely covered. Likely all gone by now.

That works, so long as I’m at metro center by 8:20-ish so I have time to shower and change. Just let me know when/where you want to meet! If the W&OD is clear enough (25mm slicks) I’ll bike the whole way, otherwise I was going to drive to WFC (since I need my car after work anyway) and start from there.

On the fence if I’m going solo…thinking about driving to WFC and taking consularrider’s route to Banneker (sp?) Park.

I haven’t read a lot of reports about the Custis itself which I’m guessing is because Arlington County does such a great job that everyone knows it’s plowed and fine (or…I just missed it). Waiting on report (asked in thread above) for MVT but I’ll add my question as to the condition of the Roosevelt Bridge since that’s my standard route.

I drove along Shreve around 2pm today and west of the tennis courts it looks pretty good, even going up Virginia Lane. Tennis courts still looked like ice.

If Roosevelt is passable on slicks then I may drive to WFC metro tomorrow and take Park to Maple to Columbia and hop on there at Banneker Park.
