ParticipantWay too many rules. My eyes glazed over around #5.

ParticipantStill don’t have a road bike but I did take my mountain bike out Saturday on the paved trails and it didn’t really slow me down. So I have a bike to ride this Friday if you wind up hosting Midnight Saddles.

ParticipantBridge over Wiehle or however you spell it would be great, that’s my least favorite W&OD road crossing. It’s probably too close to the intersection at Sunset Hills to have a crossing signal (in that it c/would cause a backup of traffic into that intersection).
Gallows is long and pain but when I bike I only have to hit it coming home, I can take the Sandburg shortcut heading in. Although I’m told there’s a shortcut down Sandburg to Cottage so thank you for indirectly reminding me to go look that up!
(WHERE IS MY NEW BIKE?)

I’m hoping that this installation is the first of many, to include all the other intersections mentioned above.
Thank you for being the glass-half-full voice in this thread. Any improvement should be celebrated.

I think vicegrip has already won this thread.
I’ve already told him to shut up and take my money.

ParticipantOrange line wasn’t too bad, considering that I got to the station at 6am and there was a switch problem outside West Falls Church (but really when isn’t there an issue?).
I miss having a bike. Hopefully this time next week my new bike will be here.

ParticipantWhile looking for bike tools in the back of the closet this weekend, I found a brand new pair of nashbar 26″ commuter slicks and said “ha-ha, I should put these on my Titus while I’m in between road bikes.”
I didn’t do it.
And this am it took me 2 hours to get to work on metro.
Thanks Obama.

ParticipantI’ll be in Philly Sat night but I may not have a bike Fri night anyway (if Cannondale sells fast and I don’t yet have the Salsa) so don’t include me in your decision as to date.
(But YAY FOR MIDNIGHT SADDLES! Last ride was super enjoyable.)

My road bike came with Ultegra wheels, which are “tubeless ready”, and Michelin Pro 4 Endurance tires (with tubes). I blithely ignored (actually I think didn’t even know about) that tubeless-ready part, until I got my first flat. I promptly broke both tire levers trying to get the tire off the rim. Then I broke both of them again trying to use the wrong end to pry with because, you know, I still needed to get the tire off the rim. I eventually managed to get the thing off, and couldn’t get it back on again. When I *did* get it back on, I ripped the new tube trying to get the bead seated. So then I had to get it back off again. Patched the originally punctured tube. Got the patched tube and tire back on the bike. All of this accomplished with much difficulty and scraping of knuckles and other nonsense. Turned out I again punctured the (patched) tube getting it back on, but this leak was slow and my poor repair at least got me back home again. The whole thing took 2 hours on the side of the road. I spent a similar amount of time, and another ruined tube, doing it all over again the next weekend at home before it was finally fixed for real.
The first time I tried to put pro4’s on my bike, I gave up and took it to the shop. The second time I tried, I just went to the shop and tried it there under their supervision. Gave up after destroying a tube and almost slicing/impaling myself with the lever.
The THIRD time I tried, I actually got both tires on by myself. And destroyed a tube so I had to do one over. It took over an hour and my thumbs are still peeling.
I have different rims but I wonder if it’s not the pro4s. I love how fast they are but they are a real pain in the as…thumbs.

I’ll take 28s
Yay! I’ll have them with me at work (metro center). No rush.

ParticipantWell…I do also have used 28’s that I took off when I got my new wheels (they were HUGE on the wider rims). They only have about six or seven months of riding on them but I didn’t ride a lot over the winter so figure they have no more 500 miles on them.
They are not foldable.
I’d planned on keeping these for new bike BUT if it means I pay off the new spendy bike that much quicker, I’ll sell them.
$40/pair?
Tania
ParticipantI’ve got a buyer lined up but if that falls through, it’s yours.
