ParticipantIs the “‘sup?” head toss now passé?

ParticipantTo follow up on my original question, I went with the Clement USH 120’s. However, since I’ve been banned from ever taking off my back wheel without proper LBS supervision, right now I’m running the heavier MSO 40’s. At lower pressure (I run 40/45-ish for gravel) I can feel a difference on pavement but if I run them higher they’re fine for commuting and general road riding while giving me the option of popping off into the gravel or just rolling over random things in my way such as sticks, rocks or wayward boy scouts.

Does someone have a copy of or link to previous years’ forms?
Is this it? Looks like it was a google doc/form although it’s expired.

Why not?
SteveO’s tone in this thread just sucked the life out of it for me. If I’m already annoyed (granted, I admit it’s pretty easy to annoy me and I tend to quickly take my ball and go home…especially where the internet is involved), then I can only imagine how it will be later on.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to find the link to last year’s registration to help you out (rather than just vaguely referencing things that are buried deep in random threads) and I found something that said registration was on the first page of the FS 2015 thread BUT I see that’s a thread you started and there’s no link. But I’m going to keep looking!

ParticipantI really had been looking forward to this year’s FS. Now…not so much.

Show off.
Yeah, I’m jealous.

One thing to note is that the sizing on the tires has the Euro markings which in this case is 28×2 on the tire itself and then 50-622 on the Schwalbe package.
I have always wondered what those numbers meant!!!! The 28 in particular always threw me off too. (As if tire selection wasn’t confusing enough as it is and always involves multiple spreadsheets and matrices before I can make a decision…)

Yeah, it looks like Chain Reaction has the best deal at the moment, and two of the studded tires is over their minimum for free shipping. Amazon, BikeTiresDirect, and Wiggle all are about $6 per tire more. What size are you looking at?
Not exactly sure of size. The new Jamis has clearance for 40mm but not sure what it will be with the fenders. Dirt suggested I hold off buying tires until we can see what I can run with fenders. Sage man, that one.
Have you bought anything from BikeTireDirect or Wiggle? Wiggle just sounds like it would be sketchy!

ParticipantI’ve purchased two new bikes from my LBS since late summer so I’d like to save a little money now if possible so I can buy a third (a Beargrease). I’ve used CRC for the past five or six years now, their prices are usually pretty competitive if you can meet the free shipping minimum.

Just in time! I picked up a set of Marathon studded winter tires in 700×40 size. Should be good for anything that comes.
…ugh, sorry I even said that out loud.
Where did you get them? The only place online (with decent prices) that I’m familiar with is Chain Reaction.

I have no idea who the troll is but I suspected it was one of my opponents who was frustrated with the inability to make a compelling legal case for banning an ELF on a MUP, upset that the park manager wasn’t issuing a trespass notice, and upset that social media shaming wasn’t making me hide. I figured the troll was a last ditch effort to label me as crazy by pretending to be an ELF supporter and then saying inflammatory stuff to tar me via association; I was ignoring it. Seriously, these techniques are straight out of Mean Girls. Shameful examples of cyber stalking and cyber bullying!
And here I was all sad that the crazy might be over!

This is the stupidest thing I’ve read on the internet in years, and I browse reddit and read youtube comments.
Are you kidding me? It’s beyond awesome and I am fully entertained.
I hope I get the chance to say “kinetic devotion to consumerist idiocy” at some point today.

ParticipantI have NiteIze (I think that’s their name) clip-on led lights on my spokes in blue and purple. Then I also have a flexible cord that wraps around the frame that lights up in hot pink. I got it off groupon four? years ago I think but I forgot about until SteveO’s Halloween midnight saddles ride. I forget the name of it and the cat is purring in my lap so I don’t want to get up. I took it off after Halloween but it’s going back on today!
Anything that makes you stand out from any direction is a help. Colored (not white) “accent” lights seem to really catch the eye. In the glare of traffic from other cars, white and red lights get lost. To my eyes anyway.

I think the focus needs to be minimizing how annoying you are and the danger your light poses to others vision, while maintaining your own safety.
YES. I tried swiveling my light and covering it and I almost ran off the trail because I couldn’t see! Not to mention I spent the entire ride swiveling and covering, swiveling and covering, swiveling and covering.
I don’t want to blind people but I also don’t want to crash myself. I keep it pointed down and on the lowest setting which I didn’t realize until just now is stupidly weak (150!). I’ll try the medium (350) and see if anyone yells at me.
I haven’t yet encountered a too-bright light in an oncoming bicyclist.
