I’ll be there, and will send you some $ Steve O. Thanks as always for organizing.

Arrange for maybe 75, breezy, and not too humid, ok?? :)

Josh : How does Bike valet work — Fabulously! :)

You bike to the bike valet spot…well look at the Nats website for exactly where it is.
You take a ticket, write your name on it and tape it to your bike. Lock your bike (get there early so you get a spot) – tear off half of the ticket, and give the other half to the attendant.

They keep an eye on bikes during the game. Afterward, same thing in reverse (and they appreciate tips).
I’ve done it a few times and it works like a charm!

I’ll be there. I deliberately rode on Irving on Saturday to check out why folks were asking for an improvement. There’s signage that the narrow sidewalk is an official bicycle route:

The sidewalk felt like it was 5 feet wide, but I didn’t stop to measure. I passed one pedestrian and there was no margin for error. The road is three lanes wide with lots of on and off ramps. Even on a Saturday with low traffic, I opted for the sidewalk. I’d maybe take a lane if I had a group with me.

Right. Case in point- to go to the Cider ride last fall starting in Brookland I rode on sidewalks. On the way back to NW after the ride I was with a group so we took the lane.

So sorry to hear this. Glad you’re not seriously hurt. You might want to get checked out at the ER anyway (I’ve heard this is a good idea, even if after the fact).
And as said above, i do hope your damages are covered by the driver’s insurance .

I just came across an article in CityLab that was written about these garage races, and I happened to see an oh-so-familiar forumite in his singular cycle and dapper cowsuit. It’s kinda cool to see y’all in a news article!

I haven’t had time to read the article but will share anyway. Cause I wanted to but haven’t had a chance.

Recently..riding south on 11th st. In morning bike traffic. Around V or W st. I believe, we approached a stop sign – me and the 7 or 8 cyclists in front of me.

The first 1 or 2 went through the intersection.

However as I approached I saw a woman and her dog waiting to safely cross 11th st.
I stopped at the stop sign. I had time to see her and stop because I slowed like I always do .and because it’s the safe thing to do.

6! Cyclists coming behind me blew through the stop sign even as I yelled “STOP there’s a pedestrian trying to cross!”. They did not.

Then ..their just desserts..I caught up with said cyclists at the U st. Stop light.

They told me I should shut up. That they could go through as a group. And that I wasn’t the bike police (ok point taken – maybe I should just model the good behavior).

But why the heck can’t you be bothered to stop at a stop sign *when a ped is WAITING and wanting to cross*??

Seems a little courtesy to peds – and obeying the law– would be helpful and help our image as scofflaws.

My bike next to an emergency vehicle that’s not from my home jurisdiction. (I don’t live in Glen Echo).

Posting the Pointless Prize Winners for the Paul Revere Midnight Riders Pointless Prize Contest!

Thanks very much to Judd and others who transported my prizes to the Bier Baron and presented them to the Winners for me!

For those who did not follow this New-in-FS18 Pointless Prize, it recognized riders who procrastinated until the 11th hour to get a ride in for the day, or those who rode right after Midnight, to get a ride in really early for a day. The Third category is for the Rider who did the most 2-fer rides, knocking off a day after 11:30 pm, and then immediately riding at least a mile at 12:00am the following day. The rides had to be within 30 minutes of Midnight, and be the only ride recorded for the day. Thanks to hozn for crunching the Strava results for this!

    The Winners are:
Most Midnight Rides Overall Winner: HF W of Team 17
Second: Helen Huley of Team 18
Third: Kris Nessler of Team 17

And the Amazing Winner of the 2-Fer Prize is: Ben Johnson of Team 10

If you didn’t receive your prize (various sizes of Revere ware Silver plated bowls) please see someone on your team who attended the Happy Hour, or Cynthia wheel&wings to trace where it ended up.

If anyone has pics of the prizes being received (or worn on a head), please post. Thanks!
    Edelweiss

I took prize # 3 and said I’d find its owner. Kris Nessler send me a mesg. Or I’ll send you one

My bike at an address number with personal significance.

At one time my address was 1200.

I’m it. And don’t quibble…it’s not technically an address but the best I could find .627a631852399aa81903d12acdead4ea.jpg

Lee Heights Water Tower. You can get to the mysterious Zack Taylor trail from here. Which is actually a part of the Tiki Ride even tho apparently no one has ever heard of it before.

You Arlington people! I’ll see what I can do!
