    Hi everyone,
I was going to wait a few days before starting the new RSVP list, but I see that some folks are already editing their prior RSVPs. So let’s go ahead and start the new RSVP list for the RE-SCHEDULED Freezing Saddles End-of-Season Celebration and Pointless Prize Ceremony.
    Date: Monday 9 April, 2018.
Time: 6 pm onwards. We’ve reserved the space until midnight.
Location: Bier Baron Tavern, located at 1523 22nd St NW, Washington, DC (between P and Q Streets on the east side of the street)…this is near Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom in DC. The room has audio-visual capacity including a screen, a juke box, a sound system (we can hook up an iphone or other gadgets), projector, etc.
Cover charge (suggested cash donation): $10 per person…all of this will cover food, as Bier Baron has waived its normal rental fees. They will card us at the front door, where we’ll show our IDs (it’s a tavern) and pay the $10 for food. There will be extra food since we have $220 left over from January.
Food: We’ve asked the venue to stagger the food in batches rather than putting it all out at 6 pm. The buffet of finger food will include soft pretzels, quesadillas, and vegan falafel sandwiches.
Beer: Bier Baron sells 24 beers on draft, and up ‘til 7 pm there’s a $1 discount on the draft beers (the standard price is $5 to $9 for most types). They also sell 600 types of beer in bottles, and they have sodas and juices as well. There’s a full menu of dinner food for those who wish a heartier meal.
Children: If you’re not able to park your little ones with a friend or a babysitter, you can bring them along….kids are welcome until 9 pm.
Bike Parking: Bring a U-lock and any other locks you’ve got, ‘cause we will be parking our bikes on the street. Do not park on the neighbor’s fence, and especially not within the neighbor’s garden. Last winter we did an extensive search for bike parking facilities in the area, but without much luck. However, there are 15 racks between Bier Baron and Dupont Circle, which will hold about 70 bikes, plus assorted poles and other things to latch onto. There is also Capital Bikeshare, assuming you can find a space in which to dock your bike, and now there are multiple brands of dock-less bikes as well. Bier Baron is located near the Dupont Circle Metro, if you opt to take transit instead. If you’ve got a folding bike or a bicycle of the sort that would leave the rest of us drooling, or if you forget to bring your lock, the Bier Baron has graciously offered for you to bring your bicycle into the bar. There is only limited space so please send me a PM (private message) in advance, if possible.
RSVPs: We are making a list of likely attendees so as to generate an approximate head count for food.
Please reply on this thread (and please indicate the number if you’ll be bringing friends/family). All are welcome. IT WILL NOT SNOW ON APRIL 9.
Looking forward. (And sorry again about this stupid March 21 blizzard!)
    w&w

Posting the Pointless Prize Winners for the Paul Revere Midnight Riders Pointless Prize Contest!

Thanks very much to Judd and others who transported my prizes to the Bier Baron and presented them to the Winners for me!

For those who did not follow this New-in-FS18 Pointless Prize, it recognized riders who procrastinated until the 11th hour to get a ride in for the day, or those who rode right after Midnight, to get a ride in really early for a day. The Third category is for the Rider who did the most 2-fer rides, knocking off a day after 11:30 pm, and then immediately riding at least a mile at 12:00am the following day. The rides had to be within 30 minutes of Midnight, and be the only ride recorded for the day. Thanks to hozn for crunching the Strava results for this!

    The Winners are:
Most Midnight Rides Overall Winner: HF W of Team 17
Second: Helen Huley of Team 18
Third: Kris Nessler of Team 17

And the Amazing Winner of the 2-Fer Prize is: Ben Johnson of Team 10

If you didn’t receive your prize (various sizes of Revere ware Silver plated bowls) please see someone on your team who attended the Happy Hour, or Cynthia wheel&wings to trace where it ended up.

If anyone has pics of the prizes being received (or worn on a head), please post. Thanks!
